Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The Manager, Special Projects & Performance role is part of the regional Chief Business Office organizational structure. The role involves analyzing talabat’s business performance, preparing data-driven insights for senior management, conducting in-depth market analyses to unlock topline and bottomline opportunities, leading special projects, and ensuring talabat is on track to hit PnL targets.

What’s On Your Plate?

This role will help drive strategic projects and generate insights for the business. The individual will be working very closely with senior management and be responsible for four main scopes:

  • Reporting Business Performance:
  • Analyze Data: Dive into talabat’s performance metrics, identifying key trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare Reports: Create comprehensive and insightful reports for senior management, highlighting key drivers of change and actionable insights.
  • Communicate Findings: Present findings in a clear and concise manner, often translating complex data into understandable recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Conducting Analytical Deep Dives:
  • Country-Specific Analysis: Perform detailed analyses of different talabat markets, focusing on identifying turnaround opportunities, growth and profitability areas.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various departments to understand and address cross-functional issues impacting business performance.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and recommend strategies based on analysis to improve overall performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Special projects: Launching new products: Develop business use cases with innovative ideas and bring them to life by working on their implementation, ensuring they align with strategic goals and add value to the business.
  • PnL management
  • Budgeting: Collaborate with local teams to develop talabat’s yearly budget, setting growth and profitability goals.
  • PnL management: Ensure that budgets are adhered to consistently across the organization and proactively identify and pursue opportunities to exceed financial targets and enhance overall profitability.

  • Analytical Mindset strong problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decisions
  • Curiosity eagerness to learn, explore, and drive creative solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management skilled in engaging and managing diverse stakeholder interests
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration effective in working with teams across different functions to achieve common goals
  • Experience with financial modelling and PnL analysis strongly preferred
  • Experience using SQL, BigQuery, Looker, Tableau strongly preferred

  • Planning: Expertise in creating detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping everything organized and on track.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks that may impact project success, including delays, budget overruns, or resource shortages.
  • Task Management: Breaking down complex projects into smaller, manageable tasks and ensuring these are completed on time.

2. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders, and teams to ensure the project’s success.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key individuals across various functions (e.g., marketing, finance, operations, IT).
  • Coordinating the work of different departments or teams, ensuring smooth communication and alignment on project goals.

3. Leadership and Team Management

  • Leading and motivating a diverse project team, often made up of members from different backgrounds and skillsets.
  • Delegating tasks efficiently, ensuring team members have clear responsibilities and understand their roles in the project.
  • Providing guidance and support to the team throughout the project, resolving issues and ensuring performance remains high.

4. Problem-solving and Critical Thinking

  • Ability to analyze complex problems and find creative solutions to overcome challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Identifying and addressing any issues that could delay or derail the project, making adjustments to keep everything on track.
  • Thinking strategically to align the project with organizational goals and adapting to changing circumstances.

5. Communication Skills

  • Clear communication with internal and external stakeholders about project progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Strong presentation skills to report project status to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate technical or complex details in an easy-to-understand manner to non-technical stakeholders.

6. Budgeting and Resource Management

  • Managing the project budget, ensuring the project is completed within the allocated financial resources.
  • Allocating resources effectively, ensuring the right people, technology, and materials are in place for project success.
  • Keeping track of project expenses and making sure the project stays financially viable.
