Roles and responsibilities
- Supervise and manage civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Review and approve project plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Maintain a focus on quality and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform regular quality control inspections and assessments.
- Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors.
- Review and negotiate contracts and change orders.
- Monitor contractor performance and enforce contract compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.
- Resolve technical issues and challenges that may arise during construction.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and address any safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, reports, and correspondence.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience as a Resident Engineer Civil in large infrastructure or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local and international construction codes and regulations.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- AADC or ADDC experience will be preferable
Desired candidate profile
1. Site Supervision and Management
- Oversee Construction Activities: Monitor the day-to-day activities on-site to ensure construction is proceeding according to the design, schedule, and safety regulations.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all work is completed to the required quality standards and complies with the project’s specifications and drawings.
- Coordination with Contractors: Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and the construction team to coordinate work tasks, materials, and schedules.
- On-Site Decision Making: Make decisions on-site to resolve issues related to construction methods, materials, or design alterations. Ensure timely and efficient problem-solving.
2. Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Monitor Construction Quality: Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and construction practices used on-site.
- Ensure Code Compliance: Verify that construction activities comply with local, national, and international building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Material and Equipment Verification: Oversee the approval of construction materials and equipment, ensuring they meet the project’s specifications and requirements.
3. Health, Safety, and Environmental Management
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities are carried out safely, in compliance with health and safety standards. Implement safety measures to protect workers, contractors, and the general public.
- Environmental Management: Ensure that environmental standards are met, including waste management, noise control, and protection of surrounding ecosystems.
- Site Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, and address any hazards or unsafe practices.
4. Project Coordination and Communication
- Liaise with Stakeholders: Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and timely information flow.
- Manage Changes and Modifications: Oversee any design changes or modifications, ensuring that they are documented, approved, and implemented in accordance with the contract terms.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain daily site reports, progress reports, and records of inspections, safety audits, and quality checks. Document any issues, deviations, and corrective actions taken.
5. Progress Monitoring and Schedule Control
- Track Project Progress: Monitor the progress of construction activities against the project schedule, identifying potential delays or issues.
- Schedule Adjustments: Propose solutions to address delays and coordinate with contractors to make adjustments to the schedule where necessary.
- Reporting on Milestones: Provide regular updates on project milestones, ensuring that the project is moving according to the planned timeline.
