Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Team Management and Leadership

  • Supervising Fitness Staff: Oversee the daily operations of fitness staff, including personal trainers, group exercise instructors, and other gym employees. Ensure they adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and high standards of service.
  • Scheduling and Staffing: Create work schedules for the fitness team, ensuring proper coverage during peak hours and that staff members are available to meet customer needs.
  • Training and Development: Provide ongoing training to fitness staff, helping them improve their skills and knowledge. Ensure that all trainers and instructors are certified and meet the required qualifications.
  • Motivating the Team: Foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging staff to engage with clients and continually improve their performance.

2. Fitness Program Development and Management

  • Creating Fitness Programs: Design, implement, and supervise fitness programs that cater to various levels of fitness, such as group exercise classes, personal training, and wellness programs.
  • Monitoring Program Effectiveness: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the fitness programs, gathering feedback from clients and staff, and making adjustments to improve the overall experience and results.
  • Personal Training Services: Oversee the personal training services offered by the gym, ensuring that trainers deliver individualized workout plans that are safe, effective, and tailored to the clients' goals.

3. Customer Service and Client Engagement

  • Client Interaction: Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by interacting with members, addressing their needs, answering questions, and resolving any concerns or complaints.
  • Member Retention: Work to retain existing members by engaging with them regularly, understanding their fitness goals, and providing a positive experience.
  • Assessing Fitness Goals: Help clients set realistic fitness goals and track their progress, offering encouragement and guidance throughout their fitness journey.

4. Health and Safety Compliance

  • Ensuring Safety Standards: Ensure that all gym equipment is used properly and safely, and that the facility is clean and free from hazards. Monitor clients’ exercise to prevent injuries.
  • Maintaining Equipment: Oversee the maintenance of gym equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and undergoes regular servicing and inspections.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that the facility adheres to all relevant health, safety, and fitness industry regulations, including certifications, insurance, and emergency protocols.

5. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of client memberships, fitness assessments, class schedules, and other administrative tasks.
  • Budgeting and Inventory: Manage the fitness center’s budget, track expenses, and ensure that the gym has the necessary equipment and supplies to function efficiently.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on fitness center performance, including membership levels, client engagement, revenue generation, and staff performance, for senior management.

Desired candidate profile

  • Develop and implement personalized fitness programs for guests, catering to their individual goals, needs, and preferences.
  • Deliver high-quality services and maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the fitness facilities and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as spa and recreation, to create integrated wellness offerings and promote cross-departmental services.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest fitness trends and techniques, introducing innovative classes, workshops, or services to enhance the guest experience.

What You Will Bring

  • Certification in personal training or a related field, with a strong background in fitness program development and instruction.
  • Previous supervisory experience within a luxury hotel or high-end fitness facility, demonstrating excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, effectively engaging with guests, team members, and management.
  • Passion for fitness and wellness, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current on industry trends.
  • Ability to cater to a diverse range of clients, adapting training methods and techniques to accommodate various fitness levels and preferences.
