A Bartender is a key member of the hospitality team, responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, offering an excellent customer experience, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. Bartenders are not only skilled in the art of drink preparation but also excel at customer service, often interacting with patrons to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
Here are the key skills and responsibilities of a Bartender:
1. Drink Preparation and Service
- Crafting Cocktails: Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following recipes or customer preferences, including classic cocktails, signature drinks, and seasonal specials.
- Handling Different Drink Requests: Prepare a wide range of drinks, including beer, wine, spirits, and mixed drinks, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
- Serving Drinks: Serve drinks to customers at the bar, tables, or other designated areas in a timely and professional manner.
- Measuring Ingredients: Use proper measurement techniques for alcohol and mixers to ensure the correct balance of ingredients in each drink.
2. Customer Service
- Greeting and Interacting with Customers: Greet guests warmly and engage with them in a friendly and approachable manner, ensuring a welcoming environment at the bar.
- Personalized Recommendations: Offer drink recommendations based on customers’ preferences, suggest new cocktails, and provide knowledge about beverages available.
- Building Relationships: Develop rapport with regular patrons and create a memorable experience by offering attentive and personalized service.
- Handling Special Requests: Accommodate special drink requests, dietary preferences, or allergies, ensuring that all guests are satisfied with their drinks.
3. Bar Maintenance and Cleanliness
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the bar area clean, organized, and sanitary, ensuring that all surfaces, equipment, and utensils are regularly sanitized.
- Cleaning Glassware and Tools: Wash and polish glassware, utensils, and bar tools to ensure they are ready for use, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Stocking and Organizing: Restock the bar with necessary supplies, including alcohol, mixers, garnishes, ice, and glassware, ensuring items are readily available during service.
- Handling Trash and Waste: Dispose of waste materials, empty bottles, and other refuse properly to keep the bar area tidy and hygienic.
4. Cash Handling and Point of Sale (POS) Systems
- Processing Payments: Accurately take payments from customers for drinks and other bar services, using cash, credit cards, or digital payment systems.
- Issuing Receipts: Provide guests with receipts and maintain accurate records of transactions.
- Handling Tips: Collect and manage tips from guests in a transparent and fair manner, following the establishment’s policies on gratuities.
5. Inventory Management
- Monitoring Stock Levels: Keep track of alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and other supplies to ensure that the bar is well-stocked during shifts.
- Reordering Supplies: Notify the bar manager or supervisor when inventory levels are low or when stock needs to be replenished.
- Minimizing Waste: Ensure that ingredients are used efficiently and monitor pour levels to minimize waste, controlling costs for the establishment.
Desired candidate profile
The Bartender provides hotel guests and servers with quick and efficient beverage service with a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar.

- Provide an enjoyable dining experience through excellence for quality, professionalism, and friendliness.
- Anticipate guest needs and satisfaction; offer suggestions and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.
- Describe the selection of food & beverage menu items to guests by offering interesting, and vivid descriptions of each item, origin, taste, and preparation methods; and possess excellent working knowledge of all products according to service standards
What You Bring
- A minimum of 2+ years of experience in the similar role in a luxury brand
- Proficient in English (speaking, reading and writing)
- An outgoing personality and a can-do approach to an assigned task
- High level of understanding and knowledge of food and wine
