Roles and responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to support the crane maintenance operations on the client platforms as per EnerMech processes and procedure and demonstrate safety leadership and continuous development in all aspects of crane, lifting and support service activities.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
- To carryout maintenance duties offshore as directed by the Crane Supervisor.
- Responsible for effectively carrying out scheduled and un-scheduled planned maintenance routines of all offshore pedestal cranes, overhead gantry cranes, monorail hoists, Life raft davits, winches and fixed lifting equipment.
- Performance of site repair work (as deemed practical and within the competency) on all pedestal cranes, gantry cranes, monorail hoists, Life raft davits and winches arising from Planned Maintenance Inspections and Crane Operator Maintainer comments.
- In addition to crane maintenance duties, operate overhead cranes under the direction of nominated site personnel and in accordance with authorized operators instructions manual and site operating procedures.
- When working overhead cranes, carry out daily routine on the crane in accordance with maintenance procedures and pre-start checklist.
- Inspect the job site to ensure compliance with safe practices and procedures. Maintain quality of safety in the crane group and participate in the site safety reviews i.e. Near Miss Reporting/STOP cards.
- Responsible for giving a detailed report of any crane incidents to the Crane Supervisor.
- Responsible to issue a daily report to the crane supervisor of any maintenance, corrective maintenance or troubleshooting carried out.
- Responsible for completing maintenance job plans and submission to crane supervisor with details of any parts required for replacement.
Requirements
- Be time served mechanical technicians/hydraulic technicians/electrical technicians.
- Have a minimum of 5 years offshore experience.
- Have proven experience in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and electrical equipment.

Routine Maintenance and Inspections:
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on cranes, hoists, and lifting devices to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
- Check crane components, such as hoists, hooks, chains, ropes, motors, hydraulic systems, brakes, and electrical systems, for wear and tear.
- Replace worn or damaged parts and lubricate moving components to reduce wear and extend the lifespan of the equipment.

Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in cranes and perform repairs or coordinate repairs with other technicians or specialists.
- Troubleshoot problems, including malfunctioning controls, motors, or other systems, and implement corrective actions quickly to reduce equipment downtime.

Testing and Calibration:
- Test cranes after repairs or maintenance to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely.
- Calibrate controls and load indicators to ensure accurate and safe operation of the crane.

Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI).
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety checks to ensure cranes are operating at optimal safety standards before use.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs, including information about inspections, repairs, and parts replacements.
- Prepare and submit maintenance reports to supervisors or management, identifying potential issues and the need for further attention.
- Record any accidents or incidents involving crane equipment and report them for review.

Upgrades and Modifications:
- Assist with the installation of new crane equipment or upgrades to existing systems.
- Implement modifications to improve crane performance, enhance safety features, or comply with new regulations.

Emergency Response:
- Respond quickly to crane breakdowns or emergency repairs, especially in critical operations where downtime needs to be minimized.
- Collaborate with other technicians, operators, and supervisors to coordinate emergency repairs or troubleshooting during crane malfunctions.
