Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Build an understanding of customer pain points, requirements, and potential value that can be delivered by advertising or merchant services

Identify target accounts using market data and industry intelligence

Learn the advertising or merchant services portfolio and the Amazon culture

Identify opportunities to improve our products, services, processes, systems, and tools

Work with different parts of the Amazon business to implement improvement projects, including working with category teams, product teams, and technical support teams

Develop the analytical and problem-solving skills that our people are known for

Support vendor managers as well as Amazonians in other functions, such as in-stock and marketing

As an intern, you will be matched to a mentor.

In addition to learning about an impactful project, you will have the

opportunity to engage with Amazonians for both personal and professional

development, expand your network, and participate in activities with other

interns throughout your internship. No matter the location of your internship,

we give you the tools to own your project and learn in a real-world setting.



Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or will receive a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with a graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in business administration, management, economics, e-commerce, mathematics, engineering, statistics, or related field
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English
  • Available to commence an internship between January and December 2025. Yes, our start dates are flexible! You should then be available for 3-6 months, full time (40h/week).

Desired candidate profile

1. Vendor Relationship Management

  • Basic understanding of how to develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Communication skills to assist in negotiating with suppliers and ensuring clear, open lines of communication between internal teams and external partners.

2. Inventory Management

  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and processes, such as stock ordering, restocking, and tracking product quantities.
  • Ability to assist in monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely deliveries to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.

3. Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analytical skills to track product performance, sales trends, and vendor performance.
  • Proficiency in Excel or similar tools to generate reports and analyze data related to vendor performance, product orders, and sales trends.

4. Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to assist in identifying and resolving issues such as delivery delays, product quality concerns, or discrepancies between ordered and received goods.
  • Problem-solving skills to address supply chain or vendor-related challenges.

5. Project Coordination

  • Organizational skills to assist in managing multiple vendor projects, keeping track of deadlines, and ensuring that key milestones are met.
  • Basic understanding of project management tools and processes for coordinating with different teams within the retail organization.

6. Communication Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders, including procurement, sales, and logistics teams, as well as external suppliers.
  • Ability to clearly communicate updates, needs, and expectations with vendors.

7. Attention to Detail

  • High attention to detail when handling purchase orders, contracts, delivery schedules, and invoices.
  • Ability to catch discrepancies or issues in product deliveries or contracts and escalate them as necessary.

8. Understanding of Retail Operations

  • A foundational understanding of retail operations, including product merchandising, sales processes, and customer demand forecasting.
  • Familiarity with how vendor relationships directly impact the retail business and its profitability.

9. Negotiation Skills (Basic)

  • Although as an intern, full negotiations may not be part of the role, understanding the basics of negotiation, such as pricing, delivery terms, and lead times, is valuable.
  • Opportunity to observe and learn how senior managers negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
