Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

You will be responsible for briefing and monitoring the workload of all drivers and associates. Therefore, you’ll maintain a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all administrative tasks are accurately and fully completed. Moreover, you will measure and monitor overall workflows and daily metrics. This will enable you to assist the Operations Manager with tracking, trending and reporting on site performance, on a regular basis.

In addition to your day-to-day responsibilities, you will also help with training and mentoring new Associates, ensuring that they are provided with the knowledge needed to successfully carry out their tasks. Further to this, you’ll follow-up on and resolve any process-related issues as and when required, the role will include physical activities such as pushing carts with up to 100 pound of weight, and lifting packages with up to 15 kg of weight.

You are expected to be flexible to work in different shifts and to do overtime when needed.

Finally, together with the Operations Manager, you will sufficiently resource your function from a personal standpoint. Resourcing, in this context, means multiple things: call-outs for training needs, absence and performance management, coaching and continuous monitoring of department productivity and many more.

Desired candidate profile

1. Supply Chain Management

  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes, including transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution.
  • Ability to manage supply chain activities, ensuring goods are delivered on time and in the most cost-effective manner.

2. Leadership and Team Management

  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage logistics teams, including drivers, warehouse staff, and coordinators.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and supervise staff while maintaining a positive and efficient work environment.

3. Problem-Solving

  • Ability to address and resolve logistical challenges, such as delays, transportation issues, or supply shortages.
  • Creative thinking to optimize logistics processes and find solutions that reduce costs or improve delivery times.

4. Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with internal teams, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and resolve conflicts with stakeholders.

5. Inventory Management

  • Proficiency in inventory tracking and management systems to maintain accurate records of goods and materials.
  • Understanding of inventory control methods such as FIFO (First In, First Out) or JIT (Just In Time).

6. Transportation Management

  • Knowledge of transportation logistics, including route planning, shipment tracking, and compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Ability to optimize routes and choose the most cost-effective shipping methods.

7. Attention to Detail

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure that orders are fulfilled correctly, shipments are tracked accurately, and compliance is maintained.
  • Ability to monitor the quality of goods and services, ensuring customer satisfaction.

8. Computer and Software Skills

  • Proficiency in logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS), along with general office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word).
  • Ability to use tracking and monitoring tools to oversee logistics operations in real-time.

9. Time Management

  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries, handle urgent shipments, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

10. Regulatory Knowledge

  • Understanding of legal requirements and industry regulations, such as safety standards, import/export rules, and environmental laws.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, national, and international shipping regulations.
