Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient Unit at Czech Rehabilitation Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery. The RN will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, develop care plans, and implement effective treatment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily activities.
  • Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Education: Educate patients and their families about health management, rehabilitation processes, and discharge planning.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Safety: Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and preferences within the healthcare system.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance nursing skills.

Qualifications

  • Active UAE license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation or acute care settings is advantageous.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position with potential for varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Exposure to patients with varying degrees of rehabilitation needs.

Desired candidate profile

  • Clinical Knowledge and Nursing Skills

    • Understanding of medical-surgical nursing, including the care of patients with various conditions like heart disease, diabetes, infections, and surgical recovery.
    • Ability to perform tasks such as vital signs monitoring, wound care, administering medications, intravenous (IV) therapy, and catheter insertion.
    • Familiarity with advanced medical equipment used in inpatient settings, such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
  • Patient Assessment and Monitoring

    • Skill in performing comprehensive nursing assessments, identifying changes in patient conditions, and reporting any abnormalities or concerns to the healthcare team.
    • Ability to monitor patients closely for signs of infection, complications, or deteriorating health, and take appropriate action as needed.
    • Proficiency in using medical charts, patient records, and electronic health records (EHR) systems for tracking patient progress and documenting care.
  • Critical Thinking and Decision Making

    • Strong critical thinking skills to assess patient conditions, identify problems, and prioritize nursing interventions in a fast-paced inpatient environment.
    • Ability to make quick, informed decisions, especially in high-stress situations like emergencies or acute health events.
  • Patient Advocacy and Communication

    • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients' needs and concerns are addressed.
    • Advocating for patients’ rights and preferences, ensuring they understand their diagnosis, treatment plan, and any medical procedures.
    • Providing emotional support to patients and families, particularly during difficult times such as after surgery or in end-of-life care.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork

    • Strong collaboration skills, working with doctors, specialists, other nurses, and healthcare providers to create comprehensive care plans for patients.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with all members of the healthcare team to ensure that patient care is coordinated effectively.
  • Medication Management

    • Understanding of pharmacology, including the safe administration of medications such as pain relievers, antibiotics, sedatives, and chemotherapy drugs.
    • Monitoring patients for side effects, drug interactions, and adverse reactions to medications, ensuring appropriate adjustments are made.
    • Ability to educate patients on their medications, including proper dosage, timing, and potential side effects.
  • Infection Control and Safety

    • Expertise in infection control protocols, such as hand hygiene, sterilization, wound dressing, and isolation precautions to prevent the spread of infection in the hospital setting.
    • Ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients, monitoring for fall risks, and ensuring that safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents.
  • Rehabilitation and Post-Operative Care

    • Skill in supporting patients through the recovery process, including post-surgical care, pain management, and physical therapy coordination.
    • Monitoring and assisting patients with their mobility, breathing exercises, and self-care activities during recovery from surgery or injury.
