Position Title: Lifeguard
Reports to: Aquatics Manager
Key Responsibilities
Supervision
- Monitor swimmers actively to ensure their safety in and around the water.
- Identify potential hazards or unsafe behavior in pool areas or aquatic environments.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations to maintain a secure swimming environment.
Rescue and First Aid
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including performing water rescues, CPR, or first aid as required.
- Assist swimmers in distress, including those experiencing fatigue or injury.
- Maintain detailed records of rescues, injuries, and first aid treatments.
Preventative Measures
- Educate patrons on water safety, pool rules, and the use of safety equipment.
- Ensure all safety equipment, such as lifebuoys and first aid kits, is functional and readily available.
- Conduct regular inspections of the pool, surrounding areas, and equipment for cleanliness and safety.
Communication
- Collaborate effectively with other lifeguards and staff members.
- Notify management of any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Report accidents, incidents, or safety violations promptly and accurately.
Facility Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining pool cleanliness, including removing debris and monitoring chemical levels.
- Ensure adherence to safety and operational procedures within the facility.
Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service by addressing patron concerns and providing assistance.
- Foster a positive environment that emphasizes water safety and enhances user experience.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Certifications
- Current Lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA).
- CPR and First Aid certification (required).
- AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification (preferred).
Skills
- Exceptional swimming skills and physical fitness.
- Ability to remain alert and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for public interaction.
- Teamwork and composure in stressful or emergency conditions.
Working Conditions
Physical Demands
