Roles and responsibilities
- Be responsible for all aspects of ELV design and delivery on assigned projects, ensuring quality standards are met, projects are completed on time.
- Design all Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems including but not limited to Telecommunication, PAVA, AV Systems, Electronic Security Systems, Structured Cabling System including Passive and Active components design, from conceptual design phase to construction phase.
- Produce compliant design with all local authorities (Etisalat, Du, ADMMC, SIRA, etc.).
- Collaborate with project managers, architects and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of ELV systems into overall project designs.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, block diagrams, specifications, and documentation for ELV systems.
- Produce necessary ELV calculations including CCTV Field of View and Lense Calculation, Recording Time and Capacity Calculation, Wi-Fi Heat maps, etc.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine project requirements and constraints.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise to clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Brings over 8 years of experience in an international design firm, specializing in ELV systems design, with at least 5 years experience in the Middle East, preferably in the UAE.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
- Strong knowledge of ELV systems, including security systems, telecommunications, audiovisual systems and building automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

1. Technical Expertise
- ELV System Design: Expertise in designing extra low voltage systems, such as:
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Security and CCTV Systems
- Access Control Systems
- Public Address and Audio-Visual Systems
- Structured Cabling Systems (data networks, telephone lines)
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Electrical Wiring and Cabling: Strong knowledge of wiring layouts, cable types, and installation techniques suitable for ELV systems.
- Compliance with Standards: Familiarity with national and international electrical standards and regulations, such as BS, IEC, NEC, and UL for ELV systems.
- Integration of Systems: Ability to design ELV systems that are integrated with other building systems like HVAC, lighting, and control systems.
- Energy Efficiency: Understanding of energy-efficient design practices and the integration of renewable energy solutions where applicable.
2. Design Software Proficiency
- CAD Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software to create detailed layouts and schematics for ELV systems.
- BIM (Building Information Modeling): Experience with BIM tools to integrate ELV systems with other building designs in a 3D environment.
- Simulation and Analysis Tools: Familiarity with software for performance simulations and calculations for system load and design optimization (e.g., Dialux, DIALux evo for lighting, or other tools for security systems).
3. Project Management
- Project Planning and Coordination: Experience in managing the full lifecycle of ELV projects, from concept and design to installation and commissioning. Familiar with project timelines, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.
- Budget Management: Ability to estimate project costs and manage budgets, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.
- Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring junior engineers and technicians, ensuring design integrity and adherence to safety standards.
- Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Managing relationships with suppliers of ELV equipment and components, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance.
4. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
- System Diagnostics and Optimization: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with installed systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- System Integration: Ensuring that ELV systems function seamlessly with other building systems, identifying potential conflicts during the design phase.
- Risk Management: Identifying potential design risks and implementing mitigation strategies to avoid delays and cost overruns.
5. Communication and Client Interaction
- Client Liaison: Regularly communicating with clients to gather requirements, present design proposals, and ensure their needs are met in the final design.
- Documentation and Reporting: Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications, and providing clear explanations of complex systems to clients and stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with other engineering disciplines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams) to ensure designs are fully integrated.
