Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Should have an experience working with Tier 1 / Tier 2 Main Contractors.
  • Entering the strategy and managing the financial submission.
  • Contributing to risk assessment and ensuring all risks are included within the tender.
  • Leading or supporting VE exercises.
  • Assuring accuracy, competitiveness and compliance of tenders.
  • Contributing to the submission document and contract documentation.
  • Ensuring all the risks are recorded and accounted for within the tender.
  • Supporting the estimating manager in bid negotiations.
  • Negotiating tender rules.
  • Leading tenders.

Desired candidates’ profile.

  • UAE/MOFA Attested bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum 15 years work experience in Estimation Department preferably from a Tier 1 / Tier 2 Contracting Company.
  • Projects worked on, as Lead Estimator (Infrastructure Experienced) should managing significantly large packages and scope of works.

    • Estimators need to be able to analyze complex project documents and specifications and calculate accurate cost estimates, including identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Attention to Detail

    • Accuracy is essential in estimating the correct quantities of materials, labor, and time required. Even small errors can result in significant cost discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards and Materials

    • A thorough understanding of construction materials, labor rates, and construction methods is important. Knowledge of industry pricing standards and trends also helps produce competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Project Management Skills

    • The ability to manage time effectively, track project budgets, and ensure that estimates stay within the scope of the project is essential for success.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills

    • Estimators must be able to clearly communicate complex technical information to clients, suppliers, and project teams. Strong negotiation skills are also important when working with contractors and suppliers to get the best prices and terms.
  • Proficiency with Estimating Software

    • Familiarity with industry-specific estimating and project management software such as Procore, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, RSMeans, and Buildertrend is essential to improve efficiency and accuracy in cost estimation.
  • Understanding of Contractual Terms

    • Estimators must understand construction contracts, including terms related to payments, penalties, variations, and delays, to ensure that all aspects are accurately reflected in the cost estimate.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and Regulations

    • In construction, estimators must be aware of building codes, safety regulations, and zoning laws to ensure that estimates comply with legal and regulatory standards.
