Roles and responsibilities

• Chemical Laboratory:

  • Used for conducting experiments involving chemical reactions, analysis, and synthesis of materials.
  • Common in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and food industry research.

• Biological Laboratory (Bio Lab):

  • Used for studying living organisms, cells, tissues, and their biochemical processes.
  • Common in microbiology, genetics, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research.

• Medical Laboratory:

  • Focuses on analyzing clinical samples (blood, urine, etc.) to assist in diagnosing diseases.
  • Includes pathology labs, clinical laboratories, and research labs for medical innovations.

• Physics Laboratory:

  • Used for experimenting with physical phenomena, including measurements of physical properties.
  • Common in academic and research settings focused on materials science, quantum mechanics, or nuclear research.

• Environmental Laboratory:

  • Laboratory Technician:

  • Laboratory Scientist/Researcher:

Desired candidate profile

he post holder is required to rotate across administrative and clinical based functions.

• Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and highlight any urgent results as per procedure guidelines.
• Prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing and maintain clinical records.
• Utilise a range of IT systems to manage clinical records.
• Manage enquiries efficiently, and escalate to the team leader if required.
• Take responsibility for the disposal of clinical and sensitive samples and chemical waste, including sharps bins.
• Ensure that all technical standards, policies and procedures are maintained, and escalate any concerns.
• Maintain professional standards and quality control procedures to ensure safe and efficient practice.
• Work with the pathology and laboratory team to implement techniques devised from evidence based practice and clinical guidelines.
