Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Proven experience in a hotel or resort environment in the UAE.
  • Strong expertise in plumbing systems and pump troubleshooting.
  • Experience in swimming pool maintenance and related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.

  • 1. Technical Proficiency in Multiple Disciplines

  • Electrical Skills: Understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and electrical components, and the ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults.
  • Mechanical Skills: Knowledge of mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, conveyor systems, and machinery, and the ability to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance.
  • Plumbing: Familiarity with plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and sewage systems, and the ability to fix leaks, unclog pipes, or replace plumbing fixtures.
  • HVAC Knowledge: Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment.
  • General Maintenance: The ability to perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks, such as fixing doors, windows, or minor construction work, and maintaining the structural integrity of buildings.
  • 2. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting

  • Diagnostic Abilities: The ability to quickly identify problems across various systems and determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.
  • Critical Thinking: Being able to assess complex issues that may involve multiple systems and solve them in a timely and effective manner, minimizing downtime for the operation.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Recognizing signs of potential issues and performing proactive repairs or maintenance to avoid future breakdowns.
  • 3. Attention to Detail

  • Accuracy in Diagnosis: Ensuring that all repairs, installations, and maintenance work are completed to a high standard, with no overlooked issues.
  • Quality Control: Adhering to strict standards in terms of safety, quality, and compliance when carrying out technical tasks or installations.
  • Safety Compliance: Following safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  • 4. Communication Skills

  • Effective Reporting: Writing clear, concise reports regarding the tasks performed, equipment serviced, or issues identified during routine checks.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with other team members, supervisors, and sometimes external contractors to complete large-scale repairs or installations.
  • Client Interaction: If working in customer-facing roles (such as in facilities management or hospitality), the ability to communicate with clients or customers and explain technical issues in simple terms.

  • Prioritization: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, balancing urgent repairs with routine maintenance and long-term projects.

Desired candidate profile

  • Performing Routine Maintenance

    • Conducting scheduled maintenance checks on a variety of systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) to ensure everything is functioning efficiently and to prevent issues.
    • Inspecting equipment and infrastructure for wear and tear and making recommendations for repairs or replacements.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting

    • Diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
    • Troubleshooting system failures and equipment breakdowns and working to quickly resolve issues with minimal disruption.
    • Replacing or repairing defective parts in machinery or systems.
  • Installation of Equipment

    • Installing new equipment or systems, such as HVAC units, electrical components, plumbing fixtures, or mechanical devices.
    • Ensuring that new installations comply with safety standards and are fully functional.
  • Upgrades and Improvements

    • Recommending upgrades to improve efficiency, safety, or functionality, based on observations during regular maintenance checks.
    • Installing upgrades to existing systems, such as energy-efficient lighting or advanced HVAC technology, to improve overall performance.
  • Monitoring and Controlling Systems

    • Keeping track of system performance and making adjustments to optimize efficiency, such as adjusting heating or cooling systems, or calibrating machinery.
    • Monitoring energy consumption and making recommendations for improvements to reduce costs.
  • Ensuring Compliance with Standards

    • Ensuring all work meets industry regulations, safety standards, and internal company protocols.
    • Keeping records of maintenance activities, repairs, and installations for compliance and auditing purposes.
  • Responding to Emergency Issues

    • Being on-call or available for emergency repairs, such as power outages, plumbing leaks, or equipment breakdowns.
    • Quickly diagnosing and addressing emergency issues to minimize disruption or damage to equipment or facilities.
