Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Lead Aldar's ESG data strategy, including data hierarchy and data models, ensuring ESG data accuracy and assurance readiness, and generate performance reports and insights. More specifically, focus on GHG emissions inventory management, decarbonization models and emissions accounting. Also manage ESG data system and ensure ESG data management automation and train the relevant teams on using the system. Lead ESG data analysis and provide insights for decisions. Oversee ESG ratings, disclosure, and risk register and update the risk register quarterly.

Roles & Responsibility

  • Develop, enhance and maintain Aldar’s ESG data strategy and architecture, including environmental data and GHG emissions inventory model and baseline, net zero and decarbonization model, ESG data assurance, and continuously manage ESG data to ensure completeness, accuracy, assurance and readiness.
  • Manage ESG data management system and ensure data management and reporting automation, and train the relevant teams to use the system
  • Analyze ESG data and provide insights for sustainability-driven decision, especially on decarbonization pathway. Regularly report on progress across the Group, benchmark indices and identify gaps.
  • Bring continuous improvements to ESG ratings and disclosure, including but not limited to DJSI, MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP, TCFD, FTSE, ISS and proactively managing them, including conducting regular ESG gap assessments and action plans.
  • Develop and maintain Aldar’s ESG risk register and inform the strategy about the status of these risks. This includes the identification, evaluation, monitoring and reporting of all major risks, identify and action mitigation actions, and ensure compliance issues that could impact Aldar
  • Support regular internal and external sustainability reporting via the provision of consistent and credible ESG data performance and ESG-focused narrative as related to ESG ratings, risks and performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams to bridge the ESG data and disclosure gap
  • Lead ESG data assurance with the assurance provider and the internal data owners.
  • S upport the development of Aldar’s ESG policies, in line with the leading practices and the ESG ratings most relevant to the company
  • Identify the appropriate sustainability certifications Aldar should pursue, and ensure those certifications are attained at the most advantageous cost possible. Initiate and manage corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure the monitoring of the compliance level to relevant laws, regulations and standards related to the function

Qualification And Experience

RELATED YEAR OF EXPERIENCE

Min of 6+ years of experience in sustainability management

Sector Experience

  • Real estate sector, construction or consulting
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, from concept to completion

Technical And Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong knowledge in sustainability techniques and methods
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and reporting processes related to ESG and Risk management
  • Knowledge about global best practices and advanced areas of thought leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, required for one-to-one communication, delivering presentations and for conflict and dispute resolution
  • Excellent writing skills for the preparation of complex strategies and technical reports
  • Ability to create visual representations of data and progress

  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to promote understanding of ESG issues and gather input for strategic initiatives.

  6. Regulatory Compliance: Monitoring and ensuring compliance with relevant ESG regulations, standards, and best practices.

  7. Collaboration: Working closely with other departments (e.g., finance, legal, operations) to integrate ESG considerations into decision-making processes and operational practices.

  8. Benchmarking: Conducting benchmarking analyses against industry peers to assess ESG performance and identify areas for improvement.

  9. Training and Awareness: Developing and implementing training programs to raise awareness of ESG issues and best practices among employees and stakeholders.

  10. Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for enhancing the organization’s ESG performance and integrating sustainability into business operations.

  1. ESG Knowledge: Strong understanding of ESG principles, metrics, and frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).

  2. Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities to interpret complex data and assess risks related to ESG factors.

  3. Project Management: Proven project management skills to lead ESG initiatives and ensure timely execution of strategies.

  4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders and presenting complex information clearly.

  5. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data management and reporting to ensure reliability and compliance.

  6. Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

  7. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify ESG-related challenges and develop innovative solutions to address them.

  8. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data analysis tools and software relevant to ESG data management and reporting.

  9. Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of relevant ESG regulations and reporting requirements across various jurisdictions.

  10. Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to changing ESG trends, regulations, and stakeholder expectations.
