Roles and responsibilities
- Understand plant processes in Oil & Gas production, processing, Refining, Petrochemicals and Chemicals industries
- Interpret data from various data sources like piping & instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, plot plans, piping isometrics, mechanical design information, typical unit operation specifications and descriptions and electrical one-line diagrams
- Utilize process engineering and simulation tools (i.e., HYSYS, PRO/II, etc.) to develop simulation models
- Collect process, mechanical and other design or operational information from client sites when needed
- Develop thorough understanding of API 520, API 521 and relevant industry practices for Pressure Relief and Flare System design and analysis. Identify overpressure scenarios for various types of process systems
- Calculate relief loads for different overpressure scenarios
- Calculate relief rates and evaluate pressure relief device capacities
- Run hydraulic modeling using Visual Flare, Aspen Flare Network Analyzer or similar tools to evaluate Flare systems
- Develop expertise in industry’s best practices such as API 510, 570, 571 and/or 581 to recommend inspection, corrosion control/management and maintenance activities
- Improve the effectiveness of maintenance schedules based on reliability analysis
- Review the operation process parameters for changes that can affect damage mechanisms
- Establish expected corrosion rates using thickness measurement data and corrosion monitoring tools Identify causes of degradation mechanisms and recommend methodologies to assess fitness for service of the equipment
- Support implementation of data management solution, asset performance monitoring and risk-based maintenance tools
- Prepare reports and other deliverables and present results to customers
- Perform engineering calculations and equipment design
What You Bring / Skills, Capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
- 0 to 2 years’ experience in the process industry, or any suitable combination of education, training/internship, and experience.
- Expected domestic travel up to 10-15%
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Individual is self-driven, organized and can work independently or in collaboration with a global team
- Basic knowledge of industry simulation tools
- Basic understanding of Oil and Gas processing, Refinery processes
- Experience in using Software like ASPEN HYSYS, PROII etc.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of process safety management principles, chemical engineering, and relevant industry standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA).

Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards applicable to the industry, ensuring compliance in all operations.

Incident Investigation: Skills in investigating incidents and near-misses, analyzing root causes, and developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Safety Systems Design: Knowledge of designing safety systems, including emergency shutdown systems (ESD), pressure relief systems, and fire protection systems.

Data Analysis: Ability to analyze safety data and metrics to monitor process safety performance and identify trends.
