Civil Discipline Lead - Water Infrastructure

The role involves working on projects associated with wet infrastructure i.e. wastewater stormwater potable water and recycled water systems water and wastewater treatment systems and flood management and associated infrastructure such as pump stations.

This will involve undertaking field visits investigations data collection planning hydraulic modeling support master planning design development report writing preparation of tender documents technical specifications and BOQs.


Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited:

1. Lead and manage technical delivery of the technical aspects of a project life cycle;

• Provide technical inputs into bids including developing technical content as required
• Develop engineering manhours and manage engineering budgets
• Manage and oversee project engineering activities
• Manage engineering schedule and support project managers as required
• Multidiscipline project coordination and interface management
• Ensure Stantec QA / QC processes are strictly followed
• Lead client interfaces related to technical aspects of projects
• Support staff capability development

2. Leading preparation of concept preliminary and detailed designs for wet infrastructure including;

• Design briefs and Basis of Design technical notes
• Design calculations
• Design reports
• Design drawings production
• Specifications and bill of quantities

3. Collaboration and working as part of a team;

• Work in conjunction with peers to overcome project design challenges and share lessons learnt on projects
• Liaise with other discipline leads and/or teams working remotely from other regions to facilitate completion of project tasks
• Mentor and support junior members of the team
• Liaise with and manage subconsultants and subcontractors delivery to facilitate completion of project tasks

4. Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner;

• Complete all work in line with Stantecs Core Values and in accordance with the Stantecs Quality Systems Project Quality procedures and Health & Safety procedures.

5. Client Services and Stakeholders Management;

• Organise and attend meetings with clients to collect data and discuss technical solutions and options
• Attend meetings with stakeholders and follow up on NOCs for utility corridors where required

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Environmental Engineering (or related) from a recognized university
• 15 Years of experience in the design of wet infrastructure projects
• Demonstrable experience in managing multidisciplinary teams
• Working knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD ArcGIS InfoWater InfoSewer WaterGems SewerGems InfoWorks ICM InfoWorks WS etc Client specific requirements
• Professional accreditation (Chartership/PE or equivalent) from internationally recognized engineering institutions such as ICE CIWEM Engineer Australia etc. or working towards it
• Able to interface with clients and build and maintain positive relationships
• Proactive and collaborative attitude
• Capable of analyzing assessing evaluate issues and complexities pertaining to projects/work packages and supporting the team in mitigating them in advance
• Rigorous attention to detail ability to understand and adopt workflows and commitment to professional development
• Flexible attitude to accepting different work assignments and proactive attitude to project and delivery
• Experienced with wet infrastructure design standards in GCC Countries
• Experienced with local and international guidelines/standards/codes and technical specifications for the design of wet infrastructure
• Ability to work on bids to develop technical methodology and estimation of level of effort and identification of resources
• International working experience e.g. GCC Region Europe North America (preferred)
• Excellent command of English both written and spoken
• Arabic language skills (preferred)
• Ability to manage a heavy workload with close attention to detail
• Ability to make decisions independently and strong problemsolving skills
• Strong team working capabilities committed to working with all levels of management on a daily and ongoing basis
• Proactive working effectively in coordinating activities and complex tasks taking professional responsibility and ownership
• Punctual attentive and competent in adhering to Stantec policies procedures and work practices
