We have an exciting career opportunity for a Data Engineer (SaaS) to join an international super-fast growing tech company at their offices in Cape Town. You will be using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimisation and use models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. If you have 3+ years of experience in manipulating data sets and building statistical models, this job could be perfect for you.
Your key job responsibilities as the Data Engineer (SaaS) in Cape Town
- Working with their departments throughout the organisation to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
- Analyse and query data from company databases to drive optimisation and improvement of product development
- Pull data for their clients on a daily basis on request
- Assist with capturing external data operating our crawlers and provide quality assurance on all real time reports and boards that we operate on
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
- Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimise our customers journey and experience, revenue generation and other business outcomes
- Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality
- Coordinate with different departments to implement models and monitor outcomes
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy

Requirements
Requirements for this Data Engineer (SaaS) job in Breda, Netherlands:
- 3+ years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models
- Full proficiency in SQL
- Experience in PHP
- Skilled in mathematics and not afraid of the Linux command line
- Strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Experience using statistical computer languages such as PHP to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Experience working with and creating data architectures
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across departments
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
- A degree or higher qualification in: Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field, and is familiar with: coding knowledge and experience with PHP and vuejs
