GateSource HR is seeking expressions of interest of suitable candidates for a Head of ESG position. The client is a junior exploration and development company with a portfolio of projects in British Columbia, Canada.
Working with the senior management and the Board, you will address the company approach to environmental responsibility, community relation and governance with the goal to ensure the company performs in compliance with local and international ESG standards.
The successful candidate in this role has a primary responsibility to develop and enhance the ESG function and will be expected to implement and monitor and report key ESG performance indicators across the various ESG disciplines, maintain and improve controls and processes to best practice standards. An ideal candidate will be able to effortlessly interpret and integrate ESG data and implement standard reporting of the company in accordance with local and international frameworks:
Responsibilities will include:
- Establish a ESG committee, governance structure and associated terms of reference.
- Drive implementation of strategic and tactical ESG priorities and projects for the company under the direction and instruction of the Board, including through partnering with external stakeholders and agencies.
- Develop and refine company policies, standards and guidelines related to ESG / sustainability.
- Engage with financial investors, customers, industry associations and other external stakeholders on ESG/sustainability issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor/Masters degree in the fields of Social Sciences or Environmental studies
- Proven experience in strategic thinking and planning, senior level engagement and operational on ESG/sustainability
- Experience in the mining industry
- Experienced leader who can analyze data, communicate and present clearly and make strategic recommendations
- Strong knowledge of ESG topics and community relation management in Canada, and in BC in particular
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with strong senior stakeholder management
