The Energy and Propulsion Laboratory ( in the Division of Engineering New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate or Associate Research Scientist to work on aerospace propulsion.

The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project on the emerging technologies for propulsion systems. Responsibilities will include but not limited to fundamental studies of reactive flow chemical kinetics combustion and detonation for a wide range of propulsion applications including rocket/hypersonic propulsion systems gas turbine engines for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and sustainable aviation fuels for urban air mobility (UAM). The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists graduate students and undergraduate students.

Position Requirements

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or related field
• Excellent reacting flow multi-physics computation experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments
• Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes and modeling
• Ability to present and publish results in peer-reviewed journal articles

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in code development using C/C/Fortran and parallel computing
• Knowledge of hypersonic/rocket propulsion systems
• To be considered as an Associate Research Scientist 3 years of postdoctoral experience is required. For the Postdoctoral Associate position postdoctoral experience is not required.
