Genesis, an impact firm founded, incorporated and headquartered in Africa, has worked in 52 African countries and more than 115 countries globally. Uniquely, Genesis is focused on the Young World – the arc of countries with young populations stretching across Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. Three of every four babies born today are from this region, which will see its workforce swell by 1.2 billion people over the next 25 years. In contrast, the rest of the world is grappling with declining fertility rates and is expected to lose some 325 million workers over the same period. To capitalise on the opportunity at hand, the Young World must successfully navigate five interconnected transitions: These transitions are complex, but they hold the key to unlocking the region’s immense potential. Yet, just as the Young World reaches its moment of greatest potential impact, traditional development paradigms are crumbling. The old development playbook – which is overly dependent on foreign aid – is neither sufficient nor sustainable. Genesis Analytics works to unlock the immense potential of these regions and set the stage for a new chapter in global development. To achieve this, we are building a new type of impact firm, leveraging four of our key differentiators: ● We take an inside-out approach: We combine global reach and country depth. More than 80% of our staff live in our impact countries, bringing deep knowledge and networks to our work. Change happens at a country level, but needs to be informed by global context and conditions. It’s more than having an in-country team; it’s a different philosophy of working. ● Our product is impact: We work proactively, identifying transformative opportunities to unlock social value, and then cooperating to marshal the requisite funding, technology and alignment. We promise large, measurable improvements, and we do so at scale. ● We’re an integrator: Today, real breakthroughs require the right blend of human engagement and technology. We build coalitions for change, find joint solutions, and ensure peer-to-peer learning. Our engagement processes are informed by on-point analytics and primary data. ● We work across domains: No single actor can address Young World challenges alone.
