1.1. Works with a variety of patients or specializing in one of numerous possible areas based on experience and competency.
1.2. Provides direct patient care as an effective team member and promotes the highest standards of clinical nursing care established on evidence-based practice.
1.3. Monitor patient progress and identifies any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure patient comfort and safety to include interpretation, and evaluation of diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
1.4. Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while always utilizing age specific and standard precautions practices.
1.5. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient information systems ensuring the data is accurate and complete utilizing the documentation system that is used by the service scope.
1.6. Maintain records for patient care in accordance to established policy, procedure and protocols.
1.7. Recognize and uphold the rights of all patients and family members accessing health services and advocate on their behalf. This also includes maintaining cultural sensitivity.
1.8. In collaboration with physicians and all healthcare professionals caring for patient. Always give a complete and thorough report on patient status at the end of shift/assignment using effective interpersonal communication.
1.9. Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
1.10. Practice patient teaching/training for patients and families.
1.11. Follow hospital policy when disposing of biohazardous materials, labeling and handling of all materials.
1.12. Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice in order to holistically care for the patient.
1.13. Ensure patient and staff confidentiality.
1.14. Awareness of quality initiatives and support in collection of data and care improvement for positive accreditation standards and outcomes.
1.15. Maintains competence for skilled nursing tasks including but not limited to: medication administration, venipuncture, tracheostomy care, PEG feeding
1.16. Perform other job-related duties as assigned as long as the assignment is within the scope of known skills and abilities.
1.17. Identify problems of this nature to the Supervisor for resolution.
1.18. Identifying and reporting accidents or incidents to the ward charge nurse and/or manager for further review and action by the Quality division. Participate in Quality Improvement Project in unit.
1.19. Adherence to Infection Control protocols
1.20. Consistently uses existing educational tool in order to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases, and best practices.
1.21. Maintains 20 relevant CME points a year in accordance with nursing licensing authorities
