Senior Sharia Compliance Officer (Arabic Speaker)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Helping his line manager to ensure that all departments in Company Group are operating within the Sharia framework decided by HSA.

2. Assisting in reviewing and approving all activities, products and services (and related agreements) that will be conducted or executed by Company Group to make sure that they are in line with the resolutions of HSA.

3. Collecting the information and keep the records of the implementation of (and adherence to) any new HSA’s resolutions.

4. To assist in reviewing new policies and procedures to make sure that they are in line with the Shari’a compliance requirements.

5. To keep the records of providing advices in respect of Shari’a compliance to all levels and departments in company Group.

6. To assist in increasing Shari’a compliance awareness in company Group by providing the Shari’a Training Dept. with required information and support.

7. To assist his line manager to submit the Shari’a compliance reports.

8. To assist his line manager in the coordination with internal Shari’a Control Division departments regarding the improvement of work quality and keep constructive working relationships with Shari’a Consultations Dept. in order to achieve the overall objectives.

9. To Ensure satisfactory behaviour and attitude.

10. To comply with any additional tasks, which could be assigned by his line manger.

RESULTS REQUIERD:

11. Achieve high standards of behavioral competencies according to the competencies defined by the line management (as per the Assignment Performance Appraisal related to Team Member). Consult with line manager on the competencies below standards.

12. Keep a constructive working relationship with clients in order to achieve the overall objectives.

13. Maintain excellent teamwork environment and team spirit.

14. Achieve very good knowledge of company processes, policy & procedures and AAOIFI Shari’a standards.

15. Maintain very good efficient and professional oral and written communication skills.

Requirements

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:

1. Bachler Degree in Shari’a, Islamic banking or equivalent.

2. CISSA and/or CIPA certifications (or alternative certifications).

3. Sound knowledge of banking and Islamic banking products.

4. Sound knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a Standards.

5. High level of communication and presentation Skills.

6. Ability to balance between compliance requirement & business needs.

7. Fluent in English.

Previous experience required (if any):

(5-7) years of experience in Shari’a related functions in Islamic banking.
