Radio Operator

Operates the Central Communication Centre (onshore base) for all offshore operations. Accurately receives and passes on all communications (including telex and fax) between Barges, Supply boats and other vessels, the Port Control Authority and the Coast Guard. After onshore office hours, represents the only point of contact for all Company communications.

Upholds Company communications confidentiality clauses.

Submits to supervisor the 07:00 hrs vessel positions and activities report. This information is continuously updated (24hrs) and reported to the supervisor and all relevant parties.

Receives, from ADMA radio, the 07:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs weather reports and passes this information on to supervisor and all relevant parties.

Prepares, copies, submits to supervisor and distributes to all relevant parties the Midnight Daily Marine Spread Report.

Orchestrates by following strict and specific procedures, with directives from supervisor, all affected vessel and relevant parties in cases of emergency.

Maintains a Satellite Phone register and Radio Log.

Ensures correct, vessel specific, client (oil companies) specific emergency procedures are followed in an emergency.

Maintains a 24 hrs Channel 16 watch, notes and issues Navigational warnings and relays to section head and vessel captains.

Maintains constant contact with the helicopter during barge arrival/departure process and during infield work to ensure that all relevant information is relayed for operational and safety purposes.

Keeps update record for radio licences, radio operator licences and call sign certificates.

Communicates Fuel and Fresh Water Reports from barges to supervisor.

Facilitates personal calls and maintains a Personal Calls Report.

Ensures that all job-related functions and equipment are in strict adherence with Company Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Compliance in accordance with HSE Standard.
