Job Description
The ID Senior Technical Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the technical aspects of industrial design projects. This role combines technical expertise with design principles to ensure that products or systems are not only visually appealing but also functional, reliable, and manufacturable.
Technical Design: Collaborate with industrial designers to translate conceptual designs into technically feasible solutions.
Ensure that the design meets technical requirements, such as materials, manufacturing processes, and structural integrity.
Prototyping and Testing: Supervise the creation of prototypes and conduct testing to validate design concepts and technical specifications.
Analyze and address issues and limitations identified during testing.
Manufacturability: Evaluate the manufacturability of the design, considering production processes, costs, and quality control.
Work with manufacturing teams to optimize the production process.
Materials Selection: Choose appropriate materials based on performance, aesthetics, and sustainability criteria. Assess the impact of selected materials on the design.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and design reports.
Ensure that documentation complies with industry standards and regulations.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, mechanical engineers, product managers, and marketing, to achieve project goals.
Problem Solving: Identify technical challenges and propose innovative solutions to overcome them. Address issues that arise during the design and development process.
Requirements
- A bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience in industrial design or product development.
- Proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design principles.
- Project management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
