QC Solar Manager

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring that products and services meet the established standards set by the company. Duties include maintaining strong overall quality control of products made by the company adhering to reliability, performance and customer expectation. Inspection of products is part of the job with the obligation to report and document findings. Managing a small team of quality control technicians.
The position of a QC is with high expectation for excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a quality assurance department in the solar industry is preferred. Other valuable skills for this position include strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Quality assurance personnel are required to stand and walk around for long hours at a time.

Responsibilities for Quality Assurance/Quality Control

• Main point of contact for solar site audits, procedures and process improvements
• Develop quality assurance plans to meet customer requirements by identifying critical control points and preventive measures, monitoring procedures, cause and corrective actions, and verification procedures
• Prepare documentation in support of customer required reviews, and present quality plans and procedures to the customer
• Participate in weekly operations and management Meetings, QC staff meetings and Corrective Action Board meetings
• Prepare product assurance certification paperwork to support acceptance of deliverables and data packages
• Develop, analyze, and communicate QA/QC performance indicators (KPIs)
• Manage team of QC personnel
• Manage work with purchasing to verify, audit and approve vendors
• Manage receiving and inspection on product verifications, support any nonconformances or vendor SCARs as needed
• Ensure QC personnel are properly and effectively trained to support inspection activities
• Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits collaborating with other members of operations management to develop new product and engineering designs
• Create quality measurements to track improvement in the field
• Execute quality improvement testing and activities
• Develop quality assurance standards and company processes
• Adhere to solar industry quality and safety standards
• Ensure products meet customer expectations and demand
• Create reports documenting errors and issues for fixing
• Work closely with the operations team to improve existing quality procedures
• Maintain standards for reliability and performance of production
• Manage the quality control process on site, and overall QC team on all sites
• Travel up to 90% will be required

Qualifications for Quality Assurance/Quality Control

• 2-4 years of experience in quality control/assurance is required
• 2-4 years of experience in the solar field preferred
• Working knowledge of Nextracker, Gamechange, and other racking systems is required
• In-depth understanding of industry standards and company policies
• Excellent knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel is required
• Bilingual is not required, but preferred
• Ability to effectively manage teams and work performance
• Good customer focus

• Great team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision
