Job Description

  • Will participate in the discussions, decision-making, and policymaking.
  • Provide leadership and management of the institutional technology infrastructure, including but not limited to local area network, telephone system hardware and software, email accounts, network security, wireless services, databases, remote access services, website and portal activity, so that the University maximizes its opportunity and effectiveness in meeting its mission.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and evaluate the implementation and utilization of the University Information System software.
  • Oversee the fall in-classroom and other hardware and software used for academic purposes; train faculty and administration in uses, maintain equipment.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the IT Help Desk and other I.T. required s
  • Create, revise, and implement the Information Technology strategic plan in accordance with the institutional mission.
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to campus clients (faculty, staff, students, and administration) for technology planning and equipment purchases; specify equipment and/or software for purchase and installation; provide training as required.
  • Oversees training for all employees in University-owned software and information systems; oversees trainers and when needed conducts training.
  • Work closely with the Enrollment & Student Life Division to support all admissions, enrollment, and student life services, including the on-line admissions process.
  • Work closely with the Registrar to support the student course Registration process.
  • Work closely with the Testing Office to maintain testing equipment; evaluate and update assessment testing software and hardware as needed.
  • Assist campus constituents in securing data for research and reporting purposes.
  • Design and monitor cost-effective programs for the University's electronic information systems and information networks.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for campus hardware/software and networks.
  • Develop, implement, and provide policies, standards, guidelines, and security monitoring processes.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedure manuals related to unit programs and services.
  • Manage the Information Technology department budget accurately.
  • Select, train, lead, and evaluate staff; establish and monitor employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance reviews; provide or coordinate staff development.
  • Serve on a variety of committees and task forces as requested.
  • Keep abreast of developments in higher education fields related to assigned functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess skills to be able to explain and demonstrate the essential functions of the position; demonstrated knowledge and experiences within all facets of Information Technology within a higher education environment.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively at all levels within the University in English; must possess effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and reach mutual points of understanding among peers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated competency and experiences in the application, implementation, and delivery of technology within a University environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions for a variety of software users and programs.
  • Demonstrable high ethical standards and patience especially as it relates to internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in decision-making, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be capable of maintaining the confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and problem-solve broad strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals and constituents.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, supervise, and evaluate team members in an effort to meet institution and department goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
