· Competently prepares the initial set-up of the cardiology machines and supplies prior to the cardiology diagnostic procedures.
· Self-updating regarding internal memos and communications
· Organizes and prepares patients with an outpatient appointment for MRI/CT under Sedation/Analgesia.
· Supports the effective functioning of unit routine, i.e., preparation of charts (screening); use of electronic record system, update of patient records and preparation in view of day schedule
· Competently performs patient assessments prior to the cardiology diagnostic procedures.
· Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) and is consistently compliant with VAP bundles
· Ensures the provision of optimum clinical care, customer satisfaction and patient safety.
· Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the prevention of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) and is consistently compliant with CAUTI bundles
· Demonstrates competence with the care and assessment of cardiac patients, including the prevention of complications.
· Provides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body.
· Demonstrates knowledge and competence with the care and management of patients requiring CRRT including the prevention of complications.
· Demonstrates knowledge and competence of the CUSP program and is proactive in identifying and reducing risk of harm to patients. • Promotion of health and delivery of health education.
· Familiar with cardiac surgical procedures like:
• Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
• Valve Repair and/or Replacement
• Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Repair
• Heart and lung Transplant
• Congenital Cardiac Defect Repairs
• Complex pediatric congenital anomalies.
Qualification:
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Must have a minimum of two years experience in pediatric cardiac surgical ICU
Certification and Licensure:
· Ability to qualify for UAE nursing licensure requirements
· Life Support and Advanced Life support Training
· American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required OR Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Depending on Assigned/Unit Department. PALS and/or Neonatal Life Support depending on staff unit requirement
The position requires a considerable amount of physical work and movement atleast 25% of the time. In addition, the position requires office work involving extensive use of the computer and interdepartmental coordination.
