Our client is looking for a passionate and hardworking Commis Chef to join their kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who s at the early stages of their culinary career and eager to learn in a fast-paced professional kitchen. You will support the chefs in daily food preparation ensuring quality hygiene and consistency are always maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and basic cooking under the supervision of chefs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your station and kitchen equipment
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards in line with company and local regulations
- Measure mix and prepare ingredients as per recipes and chef instructions
- Ensure ingredients are properly stored labeled and rotated (FIFO)
- Help with receiving and checking food deliveries
- Support other kitchen sections during busy service times
- Take part in training and development activities as required
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen setting or a culinary diploma with internship experience
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques
- Strong interest in learning and developing cooking skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Understanding of hygiene health and safety standards in a kitchen
Preferred:
Prior experience in a hotel fine dining or high-volume restaurant environment
Food safety certification is an advantage
