Roles and responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Repair, maintain and install work according to departmental procedures.
- Complete requests in timely, accurate, efficient and knowledgeable manner.
- Maintenance of Chillers, Freezers, split units, AHU, fan coils, cold rooms.
- Preventive Maintenance of refrigeration system.
- Preventive maintenance for all kitchen equipment, pumps, air conditioning to be carried out.
- A self-starter, takes initiative, can make decisions in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Qualifications
- Reasonably high level of knowledge and skill in Air conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical.
- Must have the ability to multi-task.
- Should have knowledge and skills to work with Chillers, Freezers, split units, AHU, fan coils, cold rooms.
- Proficient in the English language (verbal & written), second language is an asset.
- Previous experience in the field required.
- Candidate should have a minimum of two years' experience in the same position with a trade certificate in A/C and refrigeration (HVAC).
- Ability to repair and maintain A/C air handling units, fan coils and cold storage and refrigerators.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and use of test equipment's.
- Proficiency in the above areas and a good foundation in all other areas
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Frequent standing and walking throughout shift.
- Lifting and carrying.
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, sitting.
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Desired candidate profile
1. Maintenance and Repairs
- Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, and systems to ensure optimal performance and avoid downtime.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose technical issues or malfunctions in equipment, machinery, or systems, and repair them efficiently to minimize disruption.
- Component Replacement: Replace defective or worn-out parts of machinery and equipment to ensure continued operation.
- Maintenance Logs: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and replacements.
2. Installation and Setup
- Equipment Installation: Install new equipment or systems, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and testing to ensure they work correctly.
- System Setup: Configure systems or machinery to meet operational specifications, including setting up electrical or mechanical systems for use in various applications.
- Safety Checks: Conduct safety checks during installation to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
3. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Identify Problems: Use diagnostic tools and methods to identify issues and determine the cause of system or equipment failures.
- Provide Solutions: Implement solutions to address problems, whether by repairing faulty components, recalibrating systems, or replacing defective parts.
- Test Equipment: Test repaired or newly installed equipment to verify it is operating correctly and safely.
4. Technical Support and Assistance
- Assist Other Departments: Provide technical support to other departments and staff, ensuring smooth operation of systems and equipment.
- Customer Assistance: In customer-facing environments, offer assistance to customers regarding equipment use or troubleshooting, if needed.
- Collaborate with Technicians: Work alongside other technicians (mechanical, electrical, IT, etc.) to complete larger tasks or solve complex issues.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Record Keeping: Document maintenance, repair, and installation activities, as well as inventory of parts and tools used, to ensure accurate records and for future reference.
- Reports: Create reports on equipment performance, system failures, and maintenance schedules, highlighting issues or areas that require attention.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, company standards, and safety guidelines.
6. Equipment and Tools Management
- Tool Maintenance: Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept in working condition.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of spare parts, tools, and consumables required for maintenance tasks and report shortages or the need for replacements.
- Procurement Support: Assist with the procurement of parts, tools, and equipment required for specific maintenance tasks.
7. Safety and Compliance
- Safety Protocols: Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to safety regulations while working with potentially hazardous machinery or systems.
- Hazard Identification: Identify potential hazards related to equipment, electrical systems, and work environments, and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance, repairs, and installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
8. System Upgrades and Improvements
- System Enhancements: Suggest and implement improvements or upgrades to equipment and systems to enhance performance, efficiency, and safety.
- Energy Efficiency: Monitor systems for energy efficiency and recommend improvements where necessary to reduce operating costs or environmental impact.
9. General Support in Various Areas
- Facility Support: Assist in general facility management tasks, including plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and general building maintenance as needed.
- Assist with Special Projects: Provide support for special projects, such as system upgrades, building expansions, or equipment installations.
- Multitasking: Manage multiple tasks at once, balancing reactive maintenance with preventive care and ongoing operational needs.
