Scrum Master

Roles and responsibilities

Scrum Master must have an excellent knowledge of the scrum framework, with all its artifacts and techniques. Scrum Master also need to have the ability to coordinate people and projects (occasionally facilitating changes) with mind set on deliverables.

What you will do:

• Manage each project’s scope and timeline
• Coach team members in Agile frameworks
• Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
• Work with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
• Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles that occur
• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective.
• Identify and troubleshoot obstacles that are hindering the team’s progress.
• Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback sessions.
• Communicate project status, risks and issues to stakeholders.
• Track KPIs and help teams deliver high-quality products/solutions on time.
• Ensure that the team follows the Scrum framework and adheres to Agile principles.
• Help teams implement changes effectively
• Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint
• Guide development teams to higher scrum maturity
• Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and enjoy working on it
• Identify and manage risks and issues
  

Required Skills to be successful:

• Scrum Master certified
• 4 to 5 years expereince
• Technical background
• Based in UAE
  

About the Team:

You will be reporting to Technical Delivery Lead

What equips you for the role:

• Experience in a scrum master role
• Familiarity with software development
• Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
• Prior knowledge of Agile project management tools, such as Jira or Trello.
• Excellent communication skills
• Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Degree in Computer Science, Business or similar field
• Scrum master certification

Desired candidate profile

1. Facilitating Scrum Events

• Daily Standups (Daily Scrum): Facilitating the daily meeting to ensure that the team discusses their progress, roadblocks, and plans for the day. The Scrum Master helps ensure the meeting stays focused and time-boxed.
• Sprint Planning: Helping the team plan the work for the upcoming sprint, ensuring that the sprint goals are clear and the backlog items are well-defined.
• Sprint Review: Facilitating the sprint review meeting where the team demonstrates the work completed during the sprint and receives feedback from stakeholders.
• Sprint Retrospective: Leading the retrospective meeting to reflect on the sprint, discuss what went well, identify areas for improvement, and establish action items for the next sprint.

2. Removing Obstacles

• Identifying Impediments: Proactively identifying and removing any roadblocks or obstacles that prevent the team from achieving their sprint goals. This may involve resolving issues with resources, processes, or communication.
• Supporting the Team: Acting as a buffer between the team and external distractions, such as organizational challenges, management pressure, or changes in requirements.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Working with stakeholders to ensure that the team has everything it needs to succeed and that their needs are understood by the Scrum team.

3. Coaching the Team

• Educating the Team on Scrum: Coaching the team on Scrum principles, practices, and values to ensure they have a clear understanding of how to work within the Scrum framework.
• Promoting Continuous Improvement: Encouraging the team to reflect on their processes, identifying inefficiencies, and making adjustments to improve performance over time.
• Helping the Team Achieve Self-Organization: Supporting the team in becoming self-organized and encouraging them to take ownership of their tasks, decisions, and workflow.
