Roles and responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Marine Repair Technician to join our team in the UAE. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of the latest technical advancements in marine equipment and be committed to delivering high-quality repairs, ensuring that each issue is resolved correctly the first time.
What you will do:
- Work independently with minimal direction.
- Share knowledge with peers and guide team members to excellence.
- Carry out service and checks during service for trouble-free operation and recommend any additional jobs to be performed.
- Perform tasks such as service, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of mechanical and electric components.
- Extend technical knowledge and skills to cover new products and other systems and functions.
- Maintain a level of communication by ensuring that the work needed is effectively communicated to the Foreman, Service Advisor, or Service Manager.
- Use tools and adopt best practices as mentioned in service manuals, SOW, and Wiring diagrams to avoid rework.
Required skills to be successful:
- Technical education and/or apprenticeship.
- Technician Diploma in Marine or Automobile Engineering.
- Proven technical expertise in independently servicing, repairs, and troubleshooting.
- At least 5-10 years of experience in marine engines.
- Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- UAE driving license is an advantage.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to report effectively.
- A commitment to adhering to standard operating procedures and accomplishing tasks with full attention to details, standards, and specifications.
Desired candidate profile
Technical Skills:
- Mechanical and Electrical Knowledge: A deep understanding of how mechanical and electrical systems work, enabling technicians to diagnose and repair problems.
- Troubleshooting: The ability to quickly identify the cause of a malfunction or failure, whether it’s mechanical, electrical, or software-related.
- System Diagnosis: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, diagnostic software) to identify faults or issues in equipment.
2. Hands-On Repair and Maintenance:
- Repairing Equipment: Ability to use various tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, soldering irons) to fix malfunctioning systems.
- Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance to ensure equipment remains in good working condition and to prevent future breakdowns.
- Parts Replacement: Identifying and replacing worn-out or damaged parts in machinery, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment.
3. Attention to Detail:
- Precision and Accuracy: Ensuring repairs are carried out thoroughly and correctly to avoid future issues or failures.
- Documenting Repairs: Keeping accurate records of repairs, replacements, and maintenance work completed for future reference.
4. Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking:
- Critical Thinking: Analyzing complex systems and determining the most effective and efficient way to fix problems.
- Creativity: Coming up with innovative solutions to unusual or difficult repair problems.
- Root Cause Analysis: Identifying the underlying causes of issues to prevent future breakdowns and improving system reliability.

- Efficiency: Completing repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime for the equipment or machinery.
- Prioritization: Managing multiple repair tasks and determining which issues need immediate attention.

- Communication Skills: Explaining the nature of repairs, potential costs, and timeframes to customers, especially if working directly with them.
- Client Interaction: Handling customer concerns and ensuring their satisfaction with the repair work.

7. Knowledge of Safety Standards:
- Workplace Safety: Understanding and adhering to safety regulations, especially when working with electrical or heavy machinery.
