- Patient History Taking: Ability to gather detailed information about the patient's condition, including symptoms, lifestyle, medical history, and functional limitations.
- Physical Examination: Observing posture, movement patterns, range of motion, muscle strength, and joint stability.
- Diagnostic Skills: Recognizing signs and symptoms of various musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions.
2. Treatment Planning
- Goal Setting: Establishing realistic, measurable, and patient-centered goals for rehabilitation.
- Personalized Exercise Programs: Designing customized exercise routines to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and improve mobility.
- Manual Therapy: Techniques such as joint mobilizations, soft tissue manipulation, and stretching to alleviate pain and improve movement.
3. Therapeutic Modalities
- Electrotherapy: Using modalities like TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), ultrasound, or heat/cold therapy to manage pain and inflammation.
- Hydrotherapy: Utilizing water-based exercises and treatments to support rehabilitation, particularly for joint and muscle conditions.
- Posture and Ergonomics Education: Teaching patients how to improve their posture, perform tasks safely, and avoid injury.
4. Rehabilitation Techniques
- Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation: Addressing musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, such as fractures, sprains, and strains, through targeted exercises and interventions.
- Neurological Rehabilitation: Assisting patients with neurological disorders like stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis through specialized exercises and coordination training.
- Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation: Working with patients recovering from heart surgeries, lung conditions, or respiratory issues to improve endurance and strength.
5. Patient Communication
- Building Rapport: Establishing trust and creating a positive environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their symptoms and treatment preferences.
- Education and Advice: Offering guidance on self-management strategies, injury prevention, and lifestyle modifications to promote long-term health and well-being.
6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

- Accurate Record-keeping: Maintaining thorough documentation of assessments, treatment progress, patient goals, and any changes to the plan.
