Senior Expert Photovoltaic PV

Job Purpose:

To lead technical and technoeconomic analyses and design aspects for Masdar PV (Photovoltaic) projects. As part of an integrated project team to prepare and agree on project specifications budgets and timescales with contractors clients or other stakeholders and to define basic design and create or review test procedures for PV plant components such as foundation PV modules and converters.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct prescreening and/or technical feasibility studies of PV projects including identification of technical risk. Perform concept design works for PV projects and propose optimized plant layout
• Manage onsite solar resource assessment with ground measurement including procurement and installation processes.
• Carry out studies and optimize plant configuration for PV projects.
• Perform solar resource energy yield assessment and data analysis by using stateoftheart modelling tools (PV System).
• Procure and supervise geotechnical topographical and other relevant studies for PV projects
• Procure technical advisors for support during the bidding stage.
• Provide technical requirements to be included in all RFPs for EPC O&M and/or plant components.
• Participate in (EPC O&M and/or main equipment) contract negotiation regarding technical aspects.
• Recommend technology or infrastructure changes to improve project performance reduce operational costs or comply with regulations
• Provide technical support to the delivery team making sure the proper technical resources are in place and that the project is constructed and commissioned as per the contractual requirements in terms of scope quality and timing.
• Provide technical support to assets management team as required in operational matters that may rise during the asset lifetime.
• Review monthly and annual reports from existing PV projects.
• Maintain regular contact with PV related institutions and industry forums.
• Develop and keep Masdars PV Power knowledge data base up to date
• Build and maintain a network of relevant contacts to support daily activities and longterm objectives of the team.
• Engage with and monitor relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure adequate knowledge transfer and completion of services as per agreed parameters
• Apply consistent approaches/discipline and standardized forms in line with relevant policies processes and procedures.
• Prepare relevant reports and updates as required and to the desired standard.
• Provide management information as and when required by the line manager this includes the production and timely provision of accurate reports in line with reporting schedules

Qualifications :

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Engineering or Renewable Energy or related field
• Chartered Engineer status (e.g. IET EUR Ing PEng) is an asset
• Project Management certification (e.g. PMP PRINCE2) is an asset

Preferred Experience:

810 years of experience in the PV industry (preferably with an EPC contractor engineering firm or technical consultant) or equivalent experience

JobSpecific Skills:

• Knowledge of PV market players and PV components
• Experienced user in PV Systems and basic knowledge in using AutoCAD
• CSP technology knowledge and/or experience would be desirable
• Exceptional communication skills and able to work in a dynamic fast paced diverse environment.
