Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Scope of Responsibilities

  • Works as a part of a team of surveyors in the survey of the earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction.

2. Primary Duties

  • Study the construction plan and the project plan and identify areas to be surveyed.
  • Take accountability for the area assigned by the lead
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data in order to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
  • Coordinate findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.
  • Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
  • Develop criteria for the design and modification of survey instruments.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Inspectors for certification requirements.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Code of Conduct, local laws and regulations.

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction/ Land Surveying or any relevant studies from an accredited college or university.

Desired candidate profile

  • Land and Property Surveying:

    • Measure and map land boundaries, topographical features, and property lines for legal, construction, and planning purposes.
    • Conduct surveys to determine the location of utilities, roadways, buildings, and other infrastructure elements.
    • Use specialized surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS equipment, theodolites, and laser scanners to collect precise data.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Gather and process survey data to create accurate maps, plans, and models.
    • Interpret geographical data, environmental conditions, and existing structures to inform decision-making in development and construction projects.
  • Boundary and Legal Surveys:

    • Perform boundary surveys to establish land ownership and resolve disputes between property owners.
    • Prepare legal descriptions and reports for land use, real estate transactions, and property transfers.
    • Work closely with lawyers, landowners, and government officials to ensure compliance with zoning laws and regulations.
  • Construction Surveys:

    • Provide accurate measurements and benchmarks for construction projects, ensuring that structures are built to precise specifications.
    • Mark the location of proposed structures on-site and assist engineers and contractors in maintaining alignment, elevation, and dimensions during construction.
  • Environmental Surveys:

    • Conduct environmental surveys to assess the impact of projects on ecosystems, wetlands, and natural resources.
    • Ensure that construction projects follow environmental guidelines and regulations, such as those for flood plains or protected areas.
  • Mapping and Report Preparation:

    • Prepare detailed maps, charts, and technical reports that communicate the results of surveys to clients, government agencies, and contractors.
