Roles and responsibilities
- Deputising for Lead as required.
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports.
- Executing assigned personal objectives.
- Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery.
- Carry out survey and answer site queries.
- Review and check the work of design team.
- Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget.
- Assist in the preparation of CTR's and man-hour estimates.
- Attend meetings as and when required.
- Assist procurement and project engineering personnel in the procurement of equipment and materials.
Qualifications
- BSc, BEng or equivalent.
- Minimum of 8-14 years' experience
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Electrical engineering design and analysis.
- Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards.
- Experience in brownfield jobs and FEED jobs
- Experience in EPC and PMC jobs. Worked in a PMC role earlier.
- Experience in Vendor package management
- Experience of the application of HAZOP, HAZID and e-HAZOP to Electrical design.
- Experience with Electrical design for prefabricated modular packaged equipment.
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East/Iraq would be an advantage.
- Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context.
- Familiar with the use of industry standards and codes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good Oral and Communication skills.
- Must have good interpersonal skills/team player.
- Proficient in the use of ETAP, Navisworks, Lighting calculation Software (Dialux etc.) and MS-OFFICE
- Able to demonstrate team working skills.
- Flexible with a can-do attitude.
- Able to travel to Basra, Iraq as required.
Desired candidate profile
1. Advanced Electrical Design & Engineering:
- Power Distribution Design: Expertise in designing power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and bus bars.
- Low Voltage & High Voltage Systems: Experience designing both low-voltage and high-voltage systems, ensuring that they are safe, reliable, and meet project requirements.
- Control Systems & Automation: Knowledge of designing control systems, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and industrial automation systems.
- Electrical Load Calculations: Ability to perform load flow, short-circuit, and fault analysis to ensure the system is capable of handling the required loads under various operating conditions.
2. Power Generation & Transmission:
- Power Generation Systems: Experience with power generation equipment, including generators, renewable energy systems (solar, wind), and backup power systems (UPS, diesel generators).
- Transmission and Distribution: Understanding of power transmission and distribution networks, including substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and electrical protection systems.
- Grid Integration: Knowledge of integrating power generation systems with electrical grids, ensuring stability, efficiency, and adherence to regulations.
3. Electrical Safety & Code Compliance:
- Electrical Codes & Standards: Expertise in relevant electrical codes and standards, such as NEC (National Electrical Code), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), IEEE standards, and NFPA.
- Safety Protocols: Understanding of electrical safety protocols, including grounding, overcurrent protection, and arc flash analysis to minimize electrical hazards.
- Risk Assessment: Conducting risk assessments and ensuring the implementation of safety measures in electrical designs to protect personnel, equipment, and property.
4. Circuit Design & Analysis:
- Circuit Design: Ability to design and analyze electrical circuits, including both analog and digital circuits, to meet performance specifications.
- Simulation Software: Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB, PSCAD, or ETAP to model electrical systems and analyze performance under various conditions.
- Signal Processing: Knowledge of electrical signal processing, including filtering, amplification, and signal conditioning, especially in applications like communications or instrumentation.
5. Project Management & Coordination:
- Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring the electrical engineering aspects of projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Experience in planning project timelines, resource allocation, and cost estimation, ensuring the timely delivery of electrical systems and components.
- Client Interaction: Collaborating with clients to understand project requirements, presenting designs, and addressing concerns or changes during the project lifecycle.
