Rigging Foreman

Roles and responsibilities

• Be responsible for coordinating EnerMech's Riggers to conduct all vessel lifts and those on the platform as directed by the Crane Supervisor, or client personnel.

• Rigging Foreman must ensure that persons under their supervision involved in or in the area where materials handling operations are being conducted:

• They are trained in the techniques required for the safe execution of their work.
• Only use equipment that has been inspected and certified under client requirements.
• Do not try to manually handle an article beyond their physical capability to manage.
• Understand and follow procedures and the Code of Practices.
• Shall be responsible for the management of client-owned and supplied loose lifting equipment.

• Be conversant with loose lifting equipment rigging loft management procedures i.e. Maintain a lifting equipment database & issuance register consisting of the following;

• Inventory of equipment.
• Test certificate.
• Damage loss report register.

• Booking in & out sheets detailing the name of the person using equipment, date of issue, and description.

• In line with clients' Bi-annual lifting equipment campaign assist TPI with the inspection & recertification of lifting equipment.

• Maintain loose lifting equipment in a safe and operable condition.

• Carry out pre-use inspection of loose lifting equipment.

• Carry out minor repairs to loose lifting equipment i.e. repair of safety catches.

• Carry out Banking/Signalman duties as and when required.

• Prepare lifting plans for routine up to non-routine simple lifting operations.

• Plan and risk assess all routine up to non-routine simple crane lifting operations associated with the day-to-day running of the client platforms.

• Are aware of the hazards associated with, and on the perimeter of their work area.

• Supervise all lifting operations on client platforms, including non-routine complex lifts once approved by the Integrity Division.

• Complete reports, lifting operation risk assessments, logs, and other documentation, as required.

• Have sufficient general engineering knowledge of loose lifting equipment to carry out daily
  inspection routines.

• Assist Crane Operator Maintainer & Maintainers in carrying out routine crane lubrication duties following specified lubrication schedules.

• Assist in maintaining the cranes in a clean and tidy condition, including cabs, machinery housing and external surfaces.

• Assist EnerMech's Crane maintenance personnel in the performance of routine maintenance, repair activities and equipment change-out.

• Carry out platform emergency duties under the direction of nominated personnel

• Be multi-skilled in other platform duties including operating of firefighting equipment and undertaking fire standby and deck duties, when required.

• Lifting operation support for shutdowns, and major plant maintenance campaigns can be supplemented by EnerMech's Project Engineer and Ad-Hoc Crew as required.

Desired candidate profile

• Supervision and Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead a team of riggers and other personnel involved in rigging operations, ensuring they are properly trained, equipped, and performing their duties safely and efficiently.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to rigging crew members, based on the complexity of the operation and individual skill levels.
  • Ensure that rigging crew members adhere to safety standards, procedures, and company policies during all operations.

• Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and implement rigging plans for lifting, moving, and positioning materials and equipment. This includes assessing loads, selecting rigging equipment, and ensuring the proper setup for each lift.
  • Coordinate rigging activities with other departments, such as crane operators, engineers, and safety officers, to ensure smooth and safe operations.
  • Review blueprints, schematics, and load charts to determine the best rigging methods for specific jobs.

• Safety Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Oversee the safety of rigging operations, ensuring that all equipment and materials are properly secured and that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Conduct safety briefings for rigging teams and other involved personnel before starting each operation.
  • Monitor work conditions and address any hazards or risks that may arise during rigging operations, such as equipment failure, weather conditions, or improper lifting techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), and other industry standards.

• Equipment Management:

  • Ensure that all rigging equipment, such as slings, shackles, hooks, hoists, and cranes, is in good working condition and appropriate for the specific lift.
  • Oversee regular inspections of rigging gear and ensure that any damaged or worn-out equipment is promptly repaired or replaced.
  • Maintain a proper inventory of rigging tools and equipment and ensure that they are available and accessible when needed.
