Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Overseeing the operation that focuses on the Amazon Logistics operation.
  • Support your team in daily management of the station, including allocating labor, leading meetings, assigning job duties, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Being obsessed by metrics and diving deep to find root causes quickly, to drive improvements.
  • Finds practical and simple solutions to complex problems without sacrificing quality or core functionality.
  • Ability to utilize exceptional problem-solving, and communication skills to influence business and technical audiences.
  • Provide day-to-day support during the rollout/implementation of newer systems/processes and gather feedback.
  • Continuously utilize software and hardware tools to ensure normal day to day operations.
  • Ensure associates have proper tools to perform the job and coordinate repair or replacement when needed.
  • Communicate daily metrics and report exceptions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of employee and performance management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Can push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
  • Overseeing Daily Operations:

    • Manage logistics operations during a specific shift, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
    • Oversee the team’s activities, including receiving shipments, processing orders, and preparing packages for delivery.
    • Monitor productivity and ensure that the team meets set targets related to throughput, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Managing Staff and Resources:

    • Supervise and coordinate shift teams, ensuring that associates are assigned to tasks according to their skills and the workload.
    • Lead by example, maintaining a positive and productive work environment while motivating associates to achieve their best performance.
    • Ensure proper staffing levels during peak times and adjust as needed to meet operational demands.
  • Enforcing Safety Protocols:

    • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing Amazon's safety protocols and procedures.
    • Conduct safety briefings and ensure that employees are properly trained to identify and report potential hazards.
    • Perform safety audits and ensure compliance with safety regulations, reporting any issues or accidents.
  • Monitoring Performance and Reporting Metrics:

    • Use data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, delivery times, inventory levels, and associate productivity.
    • Provide regular reports to senior management regarding the shift’s operational performance, identifying any areas for improvement.
    • Implement strategies to optimize workflow, improve team efficiency, and meet or exceed targets.

  • Solid understanding of logistics and fulfillment center operations, including receiving, sorting, and shipping processes.
  • Ability to monitor and optimize workflows to ensure high productivity and minimize delays.
  • Experience in managing inventory levels, reducing waste, and improving efficiency.

3. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve operational issues, such as delays, bottlenecks, or resource shortages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions effectively.
  • Decision-making ability to ensure timely shipments, on-time deliveries, and accurate inventory management.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Deep knowledge of safety regulations and practices within the logistics and warehousing environment.
  • Ability to enforce safety standards and ensure that all associates follow protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Experience in identifying safety hazards and implementing corrective actions to prevent accidents or injuries.

5. Time Management and Prioritization

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively allocate resources to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills to oversee various operational aspects, such as staffing, inventory, and equipment.
  • Experience in managing shift schedules, ensuring adequate coverage, and addressing labor needs based on workload.

6. Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear directions and updates to associates and management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership to relay operational challenges, team performance, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Ability to foster open communication among team members, facilitating smooth operations and a collaborative work environment.

7. Data-Driven Analysis

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and KPIs (key performance indicators) to assess team performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ability to analyze data such as productivity rates, safety metrics, and inventory levels to make informed decisions.
  • Experience in using Amazon-specific software and tools to track performance and operational efficiency.

8. Customer Focus

  • Understanding of Amazon's customer-centric philosophy and how logistics impacts customer experience.
  • Ability to monitor operations to ensure timely and accurate shipments that meet customer expectations.
  • Commitment to quality and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction by meeting or exceeding SLAs (service level agreements).
