Roles and responsibilities
- Identify and lead risk mitigation and compliance improvement projects to drive towards a best in class regulated hazardous materials compliance program.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met for existing and new products/processes by understanding product attributes to drive intended storage actions.
- Provide end-to-end regulated hazardous materials storage compliance project management support and guidance for business projects and initiatives.
- Work cross functionally with our risk management, real estate, engineering, business and software teams to ensure regulated hazardous materials storage compliance requirements are known and projects are carried out to delivery.
- Identify regulatory risks in new products and services and provide guidance for risk mitigations.
- Support new business initiatives to ensure regulated hazardous materials storage compliance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with retail, FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) and fulfillment center partners to capture and remediate concerns.
About The Team
MENA Hazmat Storage Team ensures safe and compliant storage of hazardous materials (hazmat) inventory with physical, health, and environmental hazards in the MENA fulfillment network. Our mission is to create, implement and support safe, compliant, efficient, and innovative storage processes and procedures for storage of hazmat inventory in Amazon facilities and emerging business models across the region. We focus on hazmat inventory within Amazon’s fulfillment network to ensure storage compliance and provide solutions to enable business initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Experience handling confidential information
- Fluency in Arabic
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in handling Government officials and related networking
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel

- Proficiency in risk modeling, financial analysis, and forecasting tools to estimate potential financial impacts or probabilities of risk events.
- Strong ability to use statistical and data analysis techniques to assess risk exposure.

- A keen eye for detail to ensure that all risks, even those that seem minor, are identified and addressed.
- Ability to spot inconsistencies in data or processes that could pose a risk.
6. Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present risk findings, mitigation plans, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to explain complex risk concepts in simple terms for decision-makers or non-experts.
7. Legal and Regulatory Knowledge
- Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards that impact risk management strategies (e.g., GDPR, SOX, financial regulations).
- Staying updated on compliance requirements and industry best practices to ensure the company’s activities are risk-free from a legal standpoint.
