Mechanical Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

• Respond and attend to guests/ customers to resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Program and monitor energy management equipment to operate at maximum operational efficiency and avoid peak demand charges and penalties.
• Perform monitoring the operation of pools and maintain the water parameters as per the DM guidelines.
• Lead and train the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) team in the operation of energy management equipment and calibration of equipment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pressure vessels, boiler permits and boiler controls.
• Log boiler water parameters regularly and maintain as per the limits.
• Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team, responding in cases of fire, accident, safety concerns and calls for medical assistance.
• Visually inspect equipment or machines and record any abnormality.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers
• Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.

Desired candidate profile

• Mechanical Troubleshooting:

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical issues, such as broken components, faulty systems, or poor performance in machines or equipment.
  • Use of diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues and determine appropriate repairs.

• Technical Drawing and Blueprint Reading:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand mechanical systems and layouts.
  • Ability to follow design specifications and ensure repairs or installations align with design requirements.

• Tool and Equipment Proficiency:

  • Skilled in using a wide variety of mechanical tools, such as wrenches, grinders, drills, saws, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and laser alignment tools.

• Preventive Maintenance:

  • Knowledge of how to perform regular maintenance tasks, including lubricating moving parts, inspecting components, and checking the performance of mechanical systems.
  • Ensuring equipment operates at peak efficiency by preventing breakdowns and extending its lifespan.

• Mechanical Systems Knowledge:

  • Understanding of different mechanical systems (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics, engines, motors, conveyors) and their components.
  • Familiarity with mechanical assemblies, gears, shafts, bearings, belts, and other mechanical parts.

• Welding and Fabrication Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment.
  • Knowledge of different welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, arc welding) and safe handling of welding equipment.

• Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking:

  • Ability to think critically and creatively to resolve mechanical issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Identifying root causes of problems and determining long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
