Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Research and Documentation

  • Legal Research

    • Conducting detailed research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
    • Gathering relevant legal information and documentation to support case arguments and strategies.
  • Drafting Legal Documents

    • Preparing legal documents such as contracts, briefs, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and summonses.
    • Ensuring that these documents are legally sound, clear, and formatted according to the court or client's requirements.
  • Preparing Case Summaries and Reports

    • Summarizing case files, depositions, and other legal materials.
    • Compiling reports for attorneys that highlight key facts, issues, and legal points to support the progression of a case.
  • Reviewing and Organizing Evidence

    • Assisting in the collection, cataloging, and organization of evidence for litigation or trial.
    • Reviewing documents and evidence to ensure that all required materials are available and accessible.
  • Client and Court Liaison

  • Client Communication

    • Communicating with clients to gather information, provide updates, or explain legal procedures.
    • Ensuring clients are informed about the progress of their case or legal matter.
  • Filing Court Documents

    • Filing legal documents with the appropriate courts, government agencies, or regulatory bodies.
    • Ensuring that all deadlines and filing requirements are met and keeping track of case progress.
  • Court Appearances

    • While paralegals do not represent clients in court, they may assist attorneys by preparing documents for court filings or accompanying lawyers to court for hearings, depositions, or trials.
    • Taking notes during hearings or trials and managing trial exhibits.
  • Administrative Support

  • Managing Case Files

    • Organizing and maintaining case files, ensuring all documents and evidence are properly stored and easily accessible.
    • Managing both physical and electronic files, tracking deadlines, and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
  • Scheduling and Time Management

    • Scheduling meetings, court appearances, depositions, and client consultations.
    • Keeping track of important deadlines, including statutes of limitations, court dates, and discovery deadlines.
  • Billing and Invoicing

    • Assisting with billing clients for legal services, including tracking billable hours, preparing invoices, and managing payment schedules.
  • Legal Specializations

  • Litigation Support

    • Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation, from case preparation to trial.
    • Managing discovery, preparing trial exhibits, and assisting with witness preparation.
  • Corporate Law

    • Assisting with the preparation of corporate documents, such as articles of incorporation, partnership agreements, and shareholder agreements.
    • Researching corporate compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Real Estate Law

    • Assisting with the preparation and review of real estate contracts, deeds, and leases.
    • Conducting title searches and helping with property transactions.
  • Family Law

    • Helping attorneys with divorce proceedings, child custody issues, prenuptial agreements, and other family law matters.
    • Managing client documents, filing motions, and preparing evidence for hearings or trials.
  • Criminal Law

    • Supporting defense attorneys or prosecutors with case preparation, including organizing evidence and preparing case files for trial.
    • Helping with client interviews, witness preparation, and legal research specific to criminal law.

Desired candidate profile

  • Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, including confidentiality agreements (NDAs), contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs), for review by legal counsel.
  • Support company secretarial tasks, such as coordinating shareholder and board meetings, preparing notices and minutes, and ensuring compliance with ADX and ADGM filing requirements.
  • Manage group-wide registrations, licenses, and annual filing obligations.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles to provide accurate and timely insights.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to legal counsel.
  • Oversee the intellectual property (IP) portfolio and assist with IP registrations and related processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, preferably from a common law jurisdiction.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a UAE-listed organization.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • High level of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
