Roles and responsibilities
An an Engineering manager you will be responsible for managing the technical aspects during mainly the execution, project completion and handover of utility scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System power plants in addition to supporting during the earlier stages of project development.
As part of an integrated project team, to prepare and agree on project specifications with contractors, PMC/owner’s engineer, clients or other stakeholders, and to define basic design, and create or review test procedures for solar power plant and BESS components.
To manage and coordinate the PMC in the design review of detailed engineering and ensure a common Masdar Clean Energy approach in requirements related to engineering across projects.
Responsibilities not limited to:
- Manage all technical aspects of the projects within the delivery team, making sure the proper technical resources are in place and that the project is constructed and commissioned as per the contractual requirements in terms of scope, quality and timing.
- Coordinate and manage the review and approvals of engineering deliverables as per the project requirement.
- Coordinate the technical part of the interface with other engineers (EPC, OE and Masdar Clean Energy, i.e. HV, Civils …) for agreed requirements and ensure they are implemented in the project.
- Support in field engineering supervision regarding PV and BESS aspects and managing owner's engineer.
- Oversighting project execution activities including but not limited to engineering planning, owner technical specifications (OTS), design review, stage inspection, monitoring and tracking progress.
- Identification of technical risk involvement during execution and possible mitigation plant.
- Provide technical requirements to be included in all RFPs for EPC, O&M, equipment supply agreements and/or plant components..
- Participate in (EPC, O&M and/or main equipment) contract negotiation and selection regarding technical aspects.
- Define technical requirements for RfP/tender documents for Owners Engineer (OE) and Project Management Consultants (PMC).
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering/Master’s degree in Engineering or Renewable Energy or related field.
- Chartered Engineer status(e.g. IET, EUR Ing, PEng) is an asset.
- Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2,) is an asset
Preferred Experience:
- At least 8 years of experience in the power industry preferably with an EPC contractor, developer, engineering firm or technical consultant or an equivalent experience.

- Resource Allocation: Ensure appropriate staffing levels for projects and allocate engineers to tasks based on their skills and project needs.
Project Management
- Project Planning: Develop detailed engineering project plans, including timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Execution and Oversight: Oversee the execution of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed according to plan and meet the technical and financial expectations of the organization.
- Risk Management: Identify potential technical, financial, and operational risks early in the project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Coordination with Other Departments: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, marketing, sales, R&D) to ensure engineering projects align with organizational goals and customer needs.
Technical Oversight
- Design and Development: Oversee the development and design of engineering solutions, ensuring they meet required specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure engineering solutions are reliable, safe, and efficient.
- Problem Solving: Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for complex engineering issues. Lead the team in developing innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
