Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer - Civil finishes to join our team in Dubai. As a key member of our project delivery team, the candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of civil procurement activities for residential and building projects. Your expertise in overseas procurement will be essential as we navigate complex supply chains and source high-quality civil finishes items.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

Procurement: Collaborate with international suppliers and manufacturers to procure civil finishes materials, equipment, and systems. Leverage your knowledge of global markets to identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.

Vendor Management: Evaluate and select vendors based on their track record, reliability, and ability to meet project requirements. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to optimize procurement outcomes.

Technical Specifications: Work closely with project managers, architects, and ID designers to understand technical specifications. Ensure that purchased items align with project requirements and comply with relevant standards.

Supply Chain Optimization: Streamline procurement processes, minimize lead times, and manage inventory effectively. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving measures. Collaborate with finance teams to ensure adherence to financial targets.

Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures for Civil finishes components. Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance. Generate regular reports for management review.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and logistics, to ensure seamless project execution.

Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil finishing items procurement. Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in civil / architectural engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Proven expertise in civil finishes materials & systems used in residential and hotel buildings.

At least 10-15 years of experience in procurement, with an expertise on material procurement.

Strong communication, and organizational skills. Expertise in at least 5 different foreign languages.

Demonstrable success in managing overseas procurement.

Proficiency in procurement software and advanced research methodologies.

Familiarity with procurement processes, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate supplier proposals and make data-driven decisions.

Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

  • Market Research: Conduct in-depth research to identify and evaluate new materials, products, and technologies that could improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency of procurement for engineering projects.
  • Supplier Market Intelligence: Gather intelligence on supplier capabilities, market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging technologies, ensuring that procurement strategies are informed by the latest industry developments.
  • Technology Scouting: Research and analyze emerging technologies, materials, and equipment that could impact the design, quality, or sustainability of engineering solutions.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify and assess risks associated with procurement, including supply chain disruptions, material shortages, and technological obsolescence, and propose mitigation strategies.

2. Technical Procurement and Sourcing

  • Technical Specifications: Collaborate with engineering teams to understand the technical requirements of materials and components, and ensure procurement strategies align with these specifications.
  • Supplier Selection: Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical capabilities, quality standards, delivery timelines, and cost-effectiveness. Ensure that suppliers can meet the project's engineering and technical requirements.
  • Technology and Material Evaluation: Lead technical evaluations of new materials, products, or technologies, performing assessments and testing to ensure that they meet the project’s needs and compliance standards.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaboration with Engineers and Designers: Work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure that the procurement strategy is in line with the technical needs of the project and the overall engineering design.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a technical liaison between procurement, engineering teams, and other departments, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on specifications, schedules, and cost considerations.
  • Support Engineering Decisions: Provide technical input and recommendations that support engineering decision-making regarding material selection, supplier choice, and project timelines.

4. Cost Optimization and Budget Management

  • Cost Analysis: Use market research data and technical knowledge to identify cost-saving opportunities, without compromising on the quality or performance of the materials and technologies procured.
  • Budget Management: Work with finance and project teams to develop procurement budgets and ensure that materials and services are purchased within the allocated budget.
  • Value Engineering: Apply principles of value engineering to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements during the procurement process.
