Roles and responsibilities
As Mason, you will support the Engineering Team to ensure that engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including general property maintenance energy conservation, are working properly and to standard and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as required for hotel standards. Specifically, A Mason will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures using various materials such as bricks, concrete blocks, and natural stones and floor and wall tiles.
- To maintain and repair masonry / civil job around the hotel i.e. public area and
Guests’ rooms’ area.
- Carries out all tiles – grouting and blocking and the rest of the civil works within the Hotel.
- Expert in carryout/fixing the floor and wall tile with good finish and other Masonry related work.
- Carries out preventive maintenance schedules for masonry jobs as directed by the supervisor or Maintenance Engineer.
- Repair and maintain existing masonry structures.
- Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to any maintenance calls that arise.
- Execute the preventative maintenance schedule and ensure all equipment and designated areas are maintained to the required standard.
- Assist in the implementation of energy conservation program.
- Recommend maintenance system improvements and energy savings.
- Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in good condition.
- Keep your technical training knowledge and skills up to date.

- A certificate in a specialized field such as masonry / Civil.
- Current working knowledge of general maintenance and engineering work.
- Experience in the Maintenance Department of a large hotel, hospital, restaurant, building construction, complex or similar.

- Ability to work without close supervision and within established timeframes

Core Masonry Skills
- Bricklaying: Proficient in laying bricks, blocks, or stones to construct walls, foundations, or other structures.
- Concrete work: Skilled in mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete for various construction needs.
- Stone cutting and shaping: Ability to cut and shape stones for specific architectural designs or requirements.
- Plastering: Apply and smooth plaster or mortar to surfaces, ensuring a clean and even finish.
- Tile setting: Expert in laying tiles on walls, floors, or ceilings with precision.
Technical Proficiency
- Blueprint reading: Interpret architectural drawings and construction plans accurately.
- Measuring and alignment: Ensure structures are level, aligned, and meet specified dimensions.
- Material selection: Choose the appropriate type and quality of materials for each project.
- Tool handling: Proficient in using tools like trowels, hammers, chisels, and masonry saws.
Physical and Manual Skills
- Physical endurance: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Hand-eye coordination: Precision in placing bricks, stones, or tiles accurately.
- Strength: Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
