Roles and responsibilities

We are currently looking for Pipeline Engineer to be based in Abu Dhabi location.

Main Purpose Of Role

Core Engineering Role to produce the volume of engineering activities on projects and within the business as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant discipline from recognized university
• Master degree in relevant discipline will be an added advantage
  

Essential

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

• 6-10 years of Oil & Gas Design Experience.

Technical Knowledge And Skills (Discipline Specific)

• Engineering design knowledge of oil and gas pipelines and associated systems such as pump stations, compressor stations, metering and regulating stations, slug catchers, tank farms and other facilities.
• Feasibility studies, conceptual design, FEED, detail design, procurement support, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Piping design, stress analysis, piping material selection, equipment and rotating machinery.
• Ability to produce specifications, datasheets, material requisitions and piping layouts.
• Ability to produce drawings such as piping layouts, plot plans, general arrangements and isometrics.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D CADD applications
• Knowledge of PDS or equivalent software
• Working knowledge on international codes, standards and engineering practices

• Pipeline Design and Analysis

• Strong understanding of pipeline engineering principles, including design codes (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI) and industry standards.
• Proficiency in pipeline design and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, CAESAR II, PipeFlow, HYSYS) for designing and analyzing pipeline systems.
• Ability to perform stress analysis, including mechanical and thermal loading, pressure testing, and fatigue analysis.

• Project Management

• Experience in managing pipeline construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with contractors and vendors.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee teams, manage risks, and ensure project milestones are achieved.

• Material Science

• Knowledge of materials used in pipeline construction, including metals, coatings, and composites, and their properties (e.g., corrosion resistance, tensile strength, etc.).
• Ability to select materials based on environmental conditions, fluid characteristics, and long-term performance needs.

Desired candidate profile

• Pipeline Design and Planning

  • Design pipeline systems, including route selection, pipe material selection, and determining the appropriate diameter and pressure ratings for the pipeline.
  • Perform stress analysis and flow modeling to ensure the pipeline system can handle pressure variations, environmental factors, and fluid properties.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, including pipeline layout drawings, detailed specifications, and construction plans.
  • Evaluate and plan for site conditions, including topography, soil types, weather patterns, and the potential for erosion, corrosion, and other environmental factors.

• Project Management

  • Oversee the execution of pipeline construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Manage project risks, address any issues or delays, and ensure that necessary permits and regulatory approvals are obtained.
  • Monitor project progress, conduct inspections, and ensure that all required materials and equipment are available when needed.

• Material Selection and Procurement

  • Select appropriate materials for pipeline construction, considering factors like corrosion resistance, strength, cost, and environmental impact.
  • Work with suppliers to source and procure materials, including pipes, fittings, valves, and coatings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelines during material selection and procurement processes.

• Construction Supervision and Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the construction phase of pipeline projects, ensuring that all activities follow safety, quality, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure that construction practices comply with engineering designs and standards.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to ensure that the final pipeline meets the design specifications and safety standards.
  • Ensure that proper welding, coating, and pressure testing procedures are followed during construction.
