Roles and responsibilities

• Develop and rationalize the façade design and geometry from information received in various formats (hand sketches, architectural drawings, CAD drawings, 3D models, PDFs, etc.) maintaining architectural design intent and engineering requirements.
• Develop and manage detailed 3D parametric models of facade systems using Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Eveolute Tools or similar software, based on technical requirements and utilizing advanced knowledge of facade design and drafting principles.
• Coordinate the facade models with architectural, structural, and MEP models (including resolving clashes) through collaboration with the respective project discipline teams.
• Coordinate the production of façade design documentation in compliance with BIM and drawing standards.
• Oversee and perform quality checks on design models and technical documentation including validating models and drawings for accuracy, technical quality, and code compliance.
• Develop design workflows and processes in compliance with BIM standards, including quality assurance documentation and flowcharts.
• Maintain & implement company’s BIM standards, template [MK2] s and object library.
• Mentor and share knowledge with the design team, especially regarding technical aspects and model development of façades and their components.
• Participate in design coordination meetings, offering technical insights related to facade systems.
• Closely follow advancements in digital and parametric design technologies and facade engineering and propose innovations to improve our best practices.
  

Qualifications, skills & experience:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from a reputable University.
• Minimum 5 years of façade design and delivery experience, preferably with a mix of consultancy and contracting companies.
• Experience in detailing and documenting buildings and façades in Revit in 3D and 2D to the level of detail required in conceptual, schematic, detailed design and construction documentation (IFC).
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in working with AutoCAD, Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper and Navisworks for design/construction projects, including experience with clash analysis.
• Sound technical knowledge of façade systems and relevant codes and standards.
• Coding experience with Rhino script, Python and / or C#, VBA in Grasshopper and Dynamo environment would be an advantage.
• Experience in forming strong and collaborative relationships with team members across different regions and focus areas.
• Attention to detail with ability to schedule and manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

Desired candidate profile

1. Creating and Developing BIM Models

• 3D Model Creation: Develop detailed 3D models based on design documents and project requirements. This includes architectural, structural, MEP, and other building systems components.
• BIM Standards Compliance: Follow company-specific BIM standards and protocols for consistency and quality across the project.
• Coordination of Disciplines: Coordinate the work of various disciplines (architecture, structural, MEP) to ensure that the models are integrated and clash-free.

2. Clash Detection and Issue Resolution

• Clash Detection: Run clash detection analyses using BIM tools (such as Navisworks) to identify and resolve any conflicts between systems and components before construction begins.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work with engineers, architects, and contractors to address identified clashes and adjust the design where necessary.

3. Model Updates and Version Control

• Updating the Model: Ensure that the BIM model is updated regularly based on design changes, feedback from other project stakeholders, or on-site discoveries.
• Version Management: Maintain version control to ensure that all team members are working with the latest model and updates are properly documented.

4. Documentation and Drawings

• Construction Drawings: Generate accurate construction drawings directly from the BIM model. This includes floor plans, elevations, sections, and details for construction and fabrication.
• Quantities and Schedules: Use the BIM model to extract quantities for material takeoffs, cost estimation, and scheduling information.

5. Collaboration and Coordination with Project Team

• Team Collaboration: Participate in regular meetings with the design team, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure proper coordination and alignment with the BIM model.
• Revisions and Feedback: Respond to design changes and feedback from team members to incorporate adjustments into the BIM model.
• Client Interaction: Present 3D models to clients and other stakeholders to communicate design ideas and demonstrate project progress.

6. Quality Assurance and Control

• Model Quality: Ensure that the BIM model is accurate, complete, and adheres to project requirements, as well as industry standards and best practices.
• Accuracy Checks: Perform regular quality control checks on the model to ensure the integrity of the data, clash-free integration, and compliance with building codes and standards.

7. Training and Mentorship

• Mentoring Junior Modelers: Provide training and guidance to less experienced BIM modelers or staff on best practices for BIM modeling and software use.
• Staying Updated: Stay up-to-date with the latest BIM technologies and software advancements, incorporating them into daily work and sharing knowledge with the team.
