Roles and responsibilities
- Design all electrical systems ensuring compliance with standards, local regulations, and authority requirements such as DEWA, ADDC, and UAE FIRE CODE.
- Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts for all the electrical systems, such as interior and exterior lighting design, small power distribution, cable routing, fire alarm, earthing, and lightning protection.
- Prepare comprehensive electrical design documents, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical reports, utilizing ACAD (AutoCAD), Revit, and Navisworks.
- Handle several electrical design tasks for multiple projects.
- Conduct detailed electrical calculations, including load analysis, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and cable sizing, utilizing appropriate software tools and engineering principles.
- Collaborate closely with architects, and other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into project designs.
- Provide technical guidance to external stakeholders throughout the design and coordination process.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably with a focus on UAE projects.
- In-depth knowledge of local regulations and authority requirements, such as DEWA, ADDC, and UAE FIRE CODE.
- Strong technical capabilities in ACAD (AutoCAD), Revit, and Navisworks for designing and drafting electrical systems.
- Familiarity with electrical load calculations, power distribution, voltage drop analysis, and cable sizing.
- Proficient in using electrical engineering software tools for analysis and design.
- Strong understanding of lighting systems, small power distribution, cable routing, earthing, and lightning protection.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
- Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, Generator sizing tools and ETAP.
- Deals with less routine technical or operational problems with limited supervision and may solve moderately difficult problems that are not immediately evident and require some guidance from a more senior team member. Draws on technical knowledge and experience and information / specification received to develop the most effective and efficient solution for less standard or routine problems with a prescribed outcome.

1. Technical Skills
- Circuit Design: Expertise in designing electrical circuits for a wide range of systems, including power distribution, control systems, lighting, and instrumentation.
- Power Systems: Knowledge of designing power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, and electrical protection systems.
- Control Systems: Ability to design control systems for automation, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and industrial systems.
- Electrical Load Calculations: Proficiency in calculating electrical loads for buildings, machines, and other systems to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
- Lighting Design: Experience in designing lighting systems, including energy-efficient solutions (LED, daylight harvesting) and compliance with regulations.
- Earthing and Grounding: Designing earthing and grounding systems to ensure electrical safety and prevent hazards.
- Energy Management: Understanding of energy-efficient practices, renewable energy systems (solar, wind, etc.), and the integration of energy management technologies.
2. Software Proficiency
- CAD Software: Proficiency in using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software like AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, or SolidWorks for drafting electrical diagrams, schematics, and system layouts.
- Simulation Software: Familiarity with electrical simulation tools such as MATLAB, PSCAD, or ETAP for modeling electrical systems and performing performance analyses.
- Electrical Design Software: Experience with specialized electrical design software like ETAP, PowerCAD, or Dialux for calculating and designing electrical systems.
- PLC Programming: Understanding the basic programming and configuration of PLCs, often required for control system design.
3. Regulatory Knowledge and Standards
- National and International Standards: Familiarity with electrical design standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards, and relevant local regulations.
- Safety Standards: Knowledge of electrical safety standards, such as OSHA, IEEE, and IEC 60364, to ensure that designs meet all safety requirements.
- Compliance: Ensuring that electrical designs comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as sustainable energy practices.
