Roles and responsibilities
As an R&D Project Engineer for Life Safety business, you will be responsible for the successful execution of the projects involving new product or technology development and value engineering projects and appropriate budget allocation. Responsibility would include Program / Project Management of large, medium and or multi small-scale projects across Life safety business and its product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the business case of the engineering programs and projects. Responsibility, Authority and Accountability for project scope delivery and successful execution within technical, schedule, cost and quality commitments.
- Execute Integrated Product Team leadership across the Program. Seeks team input to promote rapid resolution to issues. Coach and provide feedback and rewards on performance indicators.
- Establish objectives, goals and provide direction to the program and project teams in areas of customer concerns, potential changes in scope and risk assessment. Facilitate the implementation of program management processes at the business unit.
- Manage effective program communications and improve organization responsiveness to customer requirements. Manage customer expectations and commitments internal to the business.
- Ensure standard program management processes are utilized and adequate support to the program and project teams by coordinating PM reviews, preparing & publishing PM metrics and reports.
- Maintain metrics for program, cost, quality, technical performance, and delivery through all of the PROLaunch phases.
- Manage all risks and requirements of the program through effective planning, controlling, integrating all projects into the programs, and measuring all elements to ensure the requirements and goals are successfully achieved.
- Ensure effective change / scope management process is utilized.
- Provide periodic program updates of current situation relating to milestones and problem/high risk areas. Provide updates to the business units as well as divisional, and sector levels.
- Resource balancing and allocation across the various programs/projects and sustaining activities utilizing ProPM tool.
- Provide overall Program interface with Management Team & Senior Leadership and the customer.
- Coordinate and monitor program technical personnel across multiple sites
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering subject (Electrical/ Electronics/Electromechanical or Equivalent)
- 5+ Years of Experience in Project management of Electrical products and control systems
Desired candidate profile
- Experience in Electrical New Product Development programs.
- Proficient in Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools.
- Project Management Institute accreditation or equivalent is desired.
- Risk Management experience
- Strong organizational, presentation, communication, and time management skills
- Results driven and ability to work within an international, culturally diverse and matrix based organization.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical and leadership skills
