Roles and responsibilities
1. Revenue Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor Revenue Performance: Track revenue performance across various departments or product lines, using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as occupancy rates (for hospitality), sales per square foot (for retail), or revenue per available seat (for airlines).
- Generate Reports: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly revenue reports for senior management. Provide detailed analysis of revenue trends, variances from budget, and recommendations for improvement.
- Forecasting: Utilize historical data, market trends, and predictive analytics to forecast future revenue and occupancy (or sales) patterns. This can include demand forecasting for pricing optimization or predicting future market conditions.
- Analyze Competitor Data: Monitor competitors’ pricing and promotions to understand market positioning and help make informed decisions on pricing strategy.
2. Revenue Optimization:
- Pricing Strategy: Assist in the development and implementation of dynamic pricing strategies based on market demand, competitor pricing, and other external factors. Ensure pricing is optimized to balance demand and profitability.
- Yield Management: Maximize revenue through effective yield management techniques. This could involve adjusting pricing, managing availability, and maximizing sales during peak periods or high demand.
- Revenue Management System (RMS) Maintenance: Work with the RMS or other software tools to manage pricing, distribution, and inventory. Regularly review and update settings to reflect changing demand, market conditions, and revenue goals.
3. Data Collection and Market Research:
- Data Gathering: Collect data on key revenue drivers, including customer behavior, booking patterns, seasonal trends, and economic factors affecting demand.
- Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity. Use this information to adjust the company’s pricing or promotional strategies to capitalize on market opportunities.
- Benchmarking: Compare the company’s revenue performance against industry standards and competitors to identify areas for improvement and growth.
4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to align pricing, promotional strategies, and inventory management to optimize revenue. Provide insights and data to help guide business decisions.
- Present Findings: Regularly present revenue analysis and performance updates to senior management, and participate in strategy meetings to discuss opportunities for improvement.
- Support Decision-Making: Provide data-driven recommendations on pricing, inventory management, sales strategies, and revenue targets. Support decision-making by providing clear insights into revenue trends and projections.
5. Strategic Planning:
- Budgeting and Goal Setting: Assist in setting revenue targets, budgeting, and developing long-term revenue growth strategies. Ensure that revenue forecasts are aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.
- Scenario Planning: Conduct scenario analysis to understand the impact of various pricing or demand management strategies on revenue. Provide recommendations based on different market conditions, competitor behavior, or other external factors.
6. System and Process Improvement:
- System Optimization: Identify opportunities for process or system improvements that can enhance revenue management, improve efficiency, and reduce errors.
- Technology Integration: Stay updated on new tools, technologies, or systems that can improve data collection, forecasting, and reporting, and help the business achieve its revenue goals.
Desired candidate profile
Suitable candidate will be reporting directly to the Director of Revenue Analytics and should have a minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position in luxury resorts or five star hotels. He/She must be presentable, highly dedicated, and must be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines with excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. This position requires a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail. He/She should be able to assist the revenue team in implementing strategies to achieve financial goals. He/she should be to support in system management to ensure optimal operation and minimize business at risk.

Strong Analytical Skills:
- Revenue analysts must be highly skilled in analyzing data, identifying trends, and interpreting complex information to make informed recommendations. A strong attention to detail is essential.

Proficiency with Data Tools and Software:
- Knowledge of financial modeling, reporting tools, and revenue management systems (e.g., RMS, STR, RevPAR for hospitality) is crucial.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools) is often a requirement.
- Familiarity with business intelligence software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) can be an advantage for visualizing data and generating actionable insights.

- A solid grasp of pricing strategies, yield management, and how to optimize revenue in response to changing market conditions is essential.

- Strong understanding of key financial metrics such as Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR), Average Daily Rate (ADR), Occupancy Rate, or Gross Margin in the context of the industry you're working in.
