Roles and responsibilities
The Reliability Section Head is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of asset strategies across all Emirates Steel Plants. This role ensures the availability and reliability of plant equipment, enabling the organization to meet objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. You will manage a team of engineers and collaborate across departments to enhance plant performance and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Lead a team of Reliability Engineers to optimize asset strategies and maintenance plans for all Emirates Steel plants.
- Asset Strategy Development: Create and prioritize risk-based, cost-effective life cycle asset strategies for all equipment, using methodologies like RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), FMECA, and Weibull analysis.
- Defect Elimination: Develop and implement defect elimination processes to identify and resolve root causes of failures and equipment losses.
- Performance Management: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), downtime, and maintenance compliance to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaboration: Maintain close communication with internal teams (e.g., plant engineers, maintenance execution, and operations) and external partners (e.g., suppliers, contractors) to ensure alignment and efficient asset management.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement across departments and support change management initiatives.
- Reliability Modelling: Use reliability engineering techniques to analyze equipment performance and drive improvements in maintenance and spare parts strategies.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all strategies and activities align with Emirates Steel's safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.
- Training & Development: Oversee the training, performance management, and career development of reliability engineers.
- Long-term Planning: Develop and communicate a 10-year look-ahead plan for asset strategies and shutdown management.
Desired candidate profile
- University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in an integrated steel plant or similar industry.
- Proficient in condition monitoring tools (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil monitoring) and related software.
- Deep understanding of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and lifecycle asset management strategies.
- Leadership experience and ability to motivate a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant professional certifications in reliability engineering (e.g., CMRP) are a plus.
- Experience in the Middle East: Familiarity with local regulations and climate conditions is advantageous.
