Roles and responsibilities
A Warehouse Storekeeper is responsible for overseeing the management of inventory and supplies within a warehouse. Key skills for this role include:
1. Inventory Management
- Stock Tracking: Monitoring stock levels and ensuring accurate inventory records.
- Receiving & Issuing Stock: Checking incoming shipments and issuing goods to other departments or customers.
- Cycle Counting: Conducting regular checks to ensure inventory accuracy and minimize stock discrepancies.
2. Organization & Storage
- Efficient Storage: Organizing goods in a systematic and accessible manner.
- Space Optimization: Maximizing warehouse space through strategic product placement.
3. Forklift & Equipment Operation
- Forklift Skills: Safely operating forklifts or pallet jacks to move goods.
- Handling Equipment: Using other warehouse equipment to manage goods effectively.
4. Data Entry & Record Keeping
- Computer Skills: Entering inventory data into warehouse management systems (WMS) or spreadsheets.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of stock movements, receipts, and deliveries.
5. Quality Control
- Product Inspection: Ensuring goods are received in good condition and matching orders.
- Damage Reporting: Identifying and reporting damaged or expired goods.
6. Safety Protocols
- Safety Standards: Following warehouse safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Hazardous Materials Handling: Knowing how to store and manage hazardous materials safely if applicable.
7. Communication
- Coordination: Communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments regarding stock levels and orders.
- Problem-Solving: Addressing discrepancies or issues with inventory in a timely manner.
8. Time Management
- Prioritization: Handling multiple tasks, such as restocking or preparing orders, efficiently.
- Deadline Management: Ensuring that stock is received, stored, and issued in a timely manner to meet operational needs.
Desired candidate profile
Job Description
Essential:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year operational experience.
- Fluent in English.
- Know basic of word, excel and outlook.
Desirable:
- Forklifting experience.
- Familiar with HACCP requirements.
- Familiar with Eatec, Maximo and or Oracle.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role.
